In between Sleds
I searched and couldn't find what I was looking for. What I'm looking for is:
-4 stroke
-non electric start
-no reverse
-no electric steering
-no electronic throttle control
-would prefer carb over efi
-would prefer free air or fan cooled
-reliable and simple

Thanks in advance. Hopefully I can benefit from everyone's knowledge.
I'm a big fan off Yamaha all of my bikes have been Yamahas. Not that knowledgeable about snowmobiles though but really want to stick to Yamaha

I don't think I ever saw a non electric start 4 stroke snowmobile. That would be a real treat trying to pull start that when it's below zero.

It's easy to kickstart a 4 stroke motorcycle I don't see how it'd be difficult to pullstart a 4 stroke snowmobile

I mean I can kickstart my friends high compression 1200 HD

What type of riding? trails, ditches , mountain . ..

I'm just sayin, three or four cylinder 4 strokes would be really hard to manually start when it's cold out

There are no 4-stroke Yamaha's that are pull start so you may have to compromise on that one.

Here's exactly what you're looking for:
Sno-traveler8-5-011.jpg

1961 Polaris Sno-Traveler.

It may not be up to today's modern suspension standards so you probably wouldn't be able to take any sweet jumps with it.

I'm sure that you could get a graphics shop to come up with a Yamaha custom wrap for it.

It's not a Yamaha, but it does meet all of the criteria that you're looking for, including old and not new.

It was 50F outside. I understand what you're saying about the cold though. Mostly trail/mountain.
That thing does fit everything. But I'm a Yamaha guy.

You will have to have Electric start on a 4 stroke Sled, Look for a 2008 Yamaha Vector LTX , 136" track , no power steering , Carbs not FI, Stock Ripsaw track is good for trail but not mountains or off trail, put a set of 7" of wider ski's on it and a Cobra Track and it will do just ok off trail ! Sounds More like you need the new VK540 from Yamaha!

Its really not that bad if you do it right. I have done it on a few Yamahas that the battery crapped out on. I even did it on mine to see how hard it was and I got it start in 2 pulls when it was about 10 degrees out.

I guess I didn't do it right. I had a bad battery when it was around 20 degrees. I couldn't get that thing to fire. Seemed like I wasn't spinning it fast enough. Thank God for micro-starts. I keep one on me all the time now.
