What the best hid kit

Maybe some people think that because it has a bigger number its brighter. Not the case! White is best for snow, blue is best for pavement! I ride on snow! Rock is an advertiser on ty and his kits are awesome! 15000 on one sled with his kits and 3000 on my latest sled.
 
Do you know if rocks kits are from China? Does he do anything special to them?
 
prolly a good question for rock to answer but I can tell you the kit you get for 60 or so online has ballasts that are almost as big as a sandwitch and you need to find room for two of them also they need to be wired to the batery. rocks kits have ballasts that are smaller them a tic tac container and get their power from the head light plug and can be completly hid in the light pod so when you service the sled and have to take off the light pod it is the same as before the kit was put in. also I have never heard one person have any problem with rocks products that he didnt fix beyond expectations and that is worth more then a few extra bucks. also the bulbs have metal housing for the plunger so they have less vibrations you get what you pay for on thease but the cheap kits do seem to work.
 
Not sure what sets you have seen with sandwich sized ballasts but it is not the ones we have used. I would say they are 2x3x.5. (a 1/2" thick business card size) Depending on the wiring harness you use, they can be powered by the battery or the headlight connector directly.

I have no problem spending more money for a reason, I have a hard time spending 4 times more money for no reason (not talking about rocks kits but the $200.00+ dollar kits we have used that were no different than the 60's). At this point the most expensive kits have actually failed at a higher rate than the cheaper ones and they typically have a one year warranty. The DDM kits have a lifetime warranty which is why we stayed with them. In the quads you flood/sink/drown them regularly and they are hard on kits, the lifetime warranty comes in handy.

Do you have a link to Rocks kits? I can't find any HIDs on his yamaheater or rocztoyz site.

Isn't Rocks kit easier to install, no boot cutting or battery connections?
 
I sell autoparts and we've stopped selling HID kits (for cars I guess) because they all come back defective....not sure why you would want to risk having a blown ballast in the middle of the night at -30.

I have Sylvania silverstars....good enough for me! LOL (early, like pre 2006 silverstars had issues blowing)

Funny you mention Sylvania - if I took a survey, those would be at the bottom for quality based on our experience with them.

I guess after thousand of hours using HID's you start to trust them, also in the case of the Yamaha's there are two lights and two ballasts. You never go home in the dark. Going over 50 at night with stock bulbs, now that is what I would call risk - lol.

No - you never mentioned the brand you sold. We had terrible luck with sylvania HID's and I would never suggest them to a friend. Hopefully they have improved in the recent past.

I was mostly responding to the "risk" statement. The way we ride (day and night) and the speeds we travel, the HID's IMO are way safer and actually reduce the risk.

Rockmeister makes great products_ I have the HID kit and the grip warmers. Both are great. Rock supports his products.
