There are two 10mm headed bolts on either side of the headlight pod. Remove the bolts and slide the pod forward and off.

The Yamaha HID kit is made by Sled Start which is company owned by Kurt who is a TY member. Kurt is a great guy and has excellent customer service. If you run into any other questions Kurt will be happy to help you. Kurt's TY username is SLEDSTART if you need to PM him. Kurt is real good about replying to inquiries quickly and taking excellent care of his customers. You are going to love his HID kit. It is literally a "night & day" difference!

Don't forget the hex screws up top by the ignition switch and 12v plug. I would suggest that if you need help at this stage you may require much more for the install. Post your location an perhaps a nearby member, with experience, can stop by for assistance. Can we assume you have the newest version with the patch cables so there is no direct connection to the battery? If so it truely is plug and play. Your mounting of the ballasts and ziptied cables is then all the problems you will face. Do not touch the bulbs. Cheers

Just wanted to know how to haul the headlight pod off since nothing in either book on it and never done it before. Garage is full of new kitchen cabinets so had to do it outside in the -20 with windchill, so didnt want no extra fooling around. Again thanks, quick and easy thing to do and I know now after doing it it may sound stupid to ask how to haul the pod off but the way these machines are built you don't know if its 2-4 or a dozen little things holding it in place.
All done now, very easy install and the kit is very good and clean, and looks excellent just again the instructions are very vague, and sections not updated from the previous versions of it from where they use to be wired to the battery such as the section about packing one of the 3-pin bulb sockets that you "dont use" (which you do in this kit) with vaseline.
Engineer so knew I could figure it out but these type of kits for the amount of extra effort it takes should have each and every step 1, 2, 3 and updated from each version. Just a suggestion for the producer of this kit, would only take half an hour to rewrite and proof the entire thing with all the steps and updated for the newer version.
Can't wait to try it out tonight to see the real difference!
Thanks

BryanK410, if you need to adjust your headlight beams, just loosen the two rear screws that hold your key switch panel in place. Pry the panel up a little. This will give you just enough room to stick a long Phillips screw driver in to adjust the beams.
I had to adjust my beams after HID installation.

You will be shocked. Just spent a week with 7 Apexes and 1 Switchback. 3 Apexes have HIDS the difference is stark. One of the must do upgrades to a Yamaha 4 stroke. I got mine from DDM Tuning, the other 2 are Sled Start.race24x said:I just did this upgrade to mine, I hope it is much better than stock I havent tried it yet, but I will let you all know. Should I bring a long screw driver for my first ride? Are they that far off after install? I assumed the lights wouldnt need to be adjusted much

I had to adjust the beams on both my sleds after HID installation, but maybe you won't have to. I didn't have to adjust much. It wouldn't hurt to keep a long Phillips in the truck in case.
