I have been presented with an offer to upgrade and I cannot decide maybe you guys can help. I currently have a 2006 vector GT with about 2800 miles on it and it runs great. The local dealer got in a 2007 Apex RTX with about 1300 miles on it and extended warranty till 11/11. I can make the upgrade for about $1500 plus tax, what would you do? :4STroke:

offer them 1150 and see what they say. Seems like a good deal. Maxdlx

Thats a very good deal i think. Whats that difference in MSRP between the 2 sleds new? 1500 US about? So you are getting a sled that has less miles, a year newer, and that basically kicks #*$&@ for only 1500 bucks, and i bet you can even get him down a nothing couple hundred bucks. If i were you i'd go for it, the Apex dosen't compare to the vector/rage so it's a pretty good upgrade for that price.

Depends how slow you think your sled is? And if you think the GT is too "soft" for you?

I demo'd the RTX. Better riding position but the RTX was set pretty stiff for my taste.

If I were a ditchbanger, I'd go for it.

Pricewise, I really like the deal, esp. considering the warranty. If you want it, haggle a little, if you really want it, write the check!

I would say its not a bad deal.. even though the 3 CYL gets better gas milage and rides almost as good... both have same front and rear suspensions, only thing different is the apex has a farther forward riding positon and higher seat.. ..

The HP is worth it though

That's a good deal. But having owned both engines and chassi's I prefer the vector/rage chassis. It's nice being able to get to stuff by simply lifting the hood rather than dismantling the whole freeking sled :o|
Unless you like to go over 100 alot stick with your 3 holer. Better fuel economy and pretty dang quick to 100. I got a chance to ride with an apex late last year and couldn't believe (nor he) how well my Rage stuck with him :flag:
The only thing I mised with my Attak and RTX was the rising position. I fixed that and installed an Apex seat on my Rage ;)!

Honestly , did you have your sled from new did you break it in , do you want someone elses beat or not beat sled ,not me I have bought one sled used and will never do it again. I have seen people try to lie about the miles or no buddy it aint been rolled crap, always buy new.

And one more thing you are going to the pro-active rear skid from the mono, I have one on my Nytro and I hate it ,,,,it rides like my 03 RX, this may be another reason your dealer took it on trade.

Apex is a better machine in almost every way, besides maybe in fuel economy, but you dont get power from nothing, which is why the apex needs a little more fuel.

Fuel injection is much more modern than carbs, the entire geometry of the sled is much more modern as well as the suspension.

Apex is a superior sled, but if buying used phazes you a little, then stick with the vector, but buying a used sled doesnt mean bad things. look for tell tale signs of how it was used, such as track condition and ski/carbide wear, as well as the general apperance of the sled, these things alone will give you a breif indacation of its condtion. Later on, wonce your more serious about getting it, look at bearing condtion, belt wear, etc..

There are people out there that really take care of therr sleds, i know i do and anyone that buys a used sled from me is getting a good sled. Not everyone can afford to buy new, it is nice but you loose alot of money with the depreciation. The key i think is to buy used with low miles, and have someone look at it that really knows what to look for when buying a used sled to see how it has been driven. You can basically tell from a person how they treat there sled by asking them if they have a cover for it, if they ever trailer it and if they do is it a closed trailer to keep them clean, and if they store them inside in the summer. Go for it, they are great sleds, far better then the RX-1 chasis, rider forward is great. It only has 1300 miles, so even if a person drove it hard it should still be in good shape becasue that is low miles, and consider it also has warrenty for a few years too. You will really like this sled compared to your vector. Jord
