If this has any bearing, mine has been in an enclosed trailer and stored in said trailer in a garage it's whole life.

If you are considering it you must have the money to do so and it will be easier now then trail side to get parts and to do the repair if i still had my 07 i would change it and save the old part just in case. snow is only around for a short time and any time wasted working on the ride is just wasted. just my .02

Its your call... mine never had a glitch either till now with a no start code 12 then minutes later it started like normal.... Its getting a staor and sensor! Trying to help you with what your question is, in my opinion it looks like the 06-07 are the suspect ones. Yes I have read some on newer sleds but much more rare.

Lots of them fail.
When they fail there is no advance warning.
Mine failed somewhere between 10-11000 miles. Fortunately it was at the end of the season in my driveway.
I also would advise changing it and keeping the old parts just in case.
I believe you can replace just the pick up which is what usually fails but you will need to cut and splice wires to do that.
Much cheaper than replacing the entire stator assy

Change it. It's closer to failing, then not.. Changing mine next week for piece of mind knowing I will continue to ride without letting me down.
No issues , I don't want one and I'm sure you don't either. .
