My ten year old son drives a Bravo. he has been riding on his own since he was six. Great sled and still plenty fast for him. I offered to get him a newer bigger sled but he said "NO". He really enjoys the lightness of the bravo and being able to toss it around. I remember when I was twelve my dad and I went to look at an used 1984 phazer, sled was a year old at the time, the gentlemen selling it had to be reasured from my dad that the sled was not for me or else he would sell it to us. 340 would be the biggest I would upgrade my son to. BYW he rides dirt bikes and quads as well, I believe he is a better rider than some adults I have seen.

My son started on a old Jag Arctic Cat 340 moved up to Ski Doo touring E 368. I moved to full size after he had proven on home acreage he was in control.
Safety is part machine, but mostly maturity and experience. I know of kids in high school who were much more dangerous to self and others than some 10-12 year olds I rode with. My buddy and I put the kids between us, we kept the speed down and preached keep right.
I forgot to mention model driving under control.
Good times. Absolutely loved it.

depends on your kids size. I had a new 99 phazer when I was 10. by the next year I out grew it and switched my mother for her 97 vmax 700. Size and skill level are the only thing you have to worry about no one can tell you "your kid should ride this sled"
