Just a question, I have my limiter straps in the middle setting and have max preload on my center shock. I also have all of the preload off the springs in the front shocks. I ran this set up last year with my torsion spring on the middle setting for most of the season. I did set it to soft later in the season and I actually liked the ride better over the bumps. I have a few riding buddies with xtx's who have their straps pulled all the way up and run a lot of ski pressure, they swear by this claiming the handling on the trails is great. In some of your guys opininon, would this be the case? I know compression and rebound come into play also, but i figured with the straps pulled tight there would be too much ski pressure making steerting harder on tight turns and twists. I did get some ski lift on the inner ski coming out of tight turns when I would get on the gas. These other guys i ride with also run little to no weight transfer on the skid. Any input would be good as I thought I was on the right track with setup but maybe not? My track is a 1.25" and not studded.
My setup is similar except I like more transfer, limiters all the way out and use a more aggressive carbide for bite. Added curve skis too which helped.
You need to shift body weight to get best performance on the nytro, it's not a sit down trail machine like the apex or vector.

I've tried many setups posted here, many ski's etc. Ended up with the JRE Spindle and skid relocation kit on my XTX. Not only was it the least expensive it works.

What skid relocation kit did you guys use? Was it the "star" kit?

TLM,
When you order the JRE Spindle for the XTX Nytro the kit includes instructions and hardware to relocate your skid at no extra charge. JRE also recommends installing the Hygear torsion spring spacer which you purchase separately from Hygear, another low cost upgrade that works wonders.

Here is an article written by Ross at Hygear suspensions a few years back. Obviously not all suspensions are created equal, but this is good reading and may help you troubleshoot issues. http://www.hygearsuspension.com/snowgoer article.pdf

ROOSTER,
Very smart how they relocate the skid, no need to drill any new holes so you can move the skid back to stock if you wanted to remove the kit. Google JRE Spindle, there are many pics of the upgrades.

I put the JRE Proto 3's on my RTX and completely changed how the sled handled, now turns on a dime and no front end plowing anymore. If you have questions you can email the company and Mark will help you out.

The JRE Spindle and skid relocate totally transformed my XTX.
I love my Nytro now, it now rides and handles like the brochure said it was supposed to
stock it wasn't even close, probably why Yamaha gave up on it and started the Viper project.

I talked to the other guys with the xtx's today. I guess the have their limiters all the way out, not pulled up all the way. They also only have the center shock preload tightened up halfway to full tight. They have all the preload off in the front. does this sound logical?
