I have 85 mi on my Apex GT and have torn up both inside bottom wheels twice! I have 144 Gold Diggers down the middle and they all look good. Any ideas on why these wheels are getting torn up?
FYI: On my last river run of 7000-9000 rpm the hand warmers actually started to work.

The same thing happen to me after only 50 miles. Yahama replace them with 100% plastic wheel model. Apparently the plastic wheel are from last year. Will see if they last!

I just thawed out my rear skid and found one of my inner wheels rubberless
I have 4 wheels leftover from my 03 from when I installed colored wheels. They still have rubber like the current wheel design but are thicker. I think the thin wheels are an attempt to lighten up stuff but possibly at the expense of durability.

2006 Apex-GT
Apex-GT yesterday 125 miles in 40" of snow I have no studs!!! Both inside wheels are shot. Reverse is also shot. Hand warmers worked pretty good I had to turn the thumb down and warmers down a few times. Temps were in the low 20's. I also had another trip ending issue that had to do with the front exchanger getting a hole in it. It is paper thin and has no protection and I pitty you guys with studs. This year, un-like my 01' SXR has no cooling fins on the front exchanger just thin aluminim I got ice or a small stone in my track and it popped a hole in my exchanger because there is no protective fins on it. My GT also handled like crap. wicked inside ski lift and it would push through every corner. I weigh 220 fully dressed and I bottomed out all day on small stuff. I really need to figure out how to setup the suspension on this thing if I have a chance of liking it. It was so bad I could not keep the sled on my side of the trail in a tight turn unless I was off the gas and on the brake. It bit me once and I drifted 2' off the ungroomed trail into the fluff (where the GT will not turn at all). Then forget about picking it up after 9 hours in the seat I could not budge the rear end. I tried reverse and I had no reverse it was fried for some reason. After we dug it out we went back to camp and I noticed my temp lamp on. End to a first season ride and a wounded soldier on the trailer. Doug

My buddy just got back from a short ride and both his inside wheels are shot also. We check the studs and all are tight and flush. Sure sounds like another problem for Yamaha. Talked with two dealers today and one had heard of a few problems like this but has not seen any of the sleds. The other dealer has heard nothing and could only suggest checking the studs. Now we are a little nervous about replacing the wheels and going on a trip only to have the wheels go bad again. Sucks to pay 10k for the best technology and part thats been on sleds for 30years is what they cant figure out.

I think if you stiffer up the rear to stop the bottoming you'll fix the ski lift as well. You are probably getting to much transfer with the soft rear and your weight causing the skis to be very light.

Word has it the GT's rear spring are too soft and Yamaha is getting stiffer springs for you GT guys.
As far as the wheels go, I replaced my rear bogies with the leftover RX-1 wheels I had and took the sled out. Apparently they are a higher quality because these wheel held up
Now I wonder if the 4 up front are gonna take a $hit. I have 2 left and may install them at the bend.
The front cooler not having fins makes me nervous. Those fins can help protect the exchanger.................

I can't wait to get my Apex out for the first ride, possibly no handwarmers and track wheels may not last the first ride! Sure does look nice sitting in the garage though!
How soon before Yamaha offers to replace the wheels with some that will hold up. Maybe the extended warranty isn't such a bad idea.

Same problem in 05 and I don't believe they replace ALL those only some.

Not sure about the RX-1 but my Warrior has no fins on the front exchanger.

One of my wheels shredded up also after 500 miles...
Is there any aftermarket wheels that could fit on that?? Don't want to change them 18 times this winter??
That sucks, I thought those things were better in 2006

I fitted the aluminium wheels from Royal code no. 04-116-98. with the NTN formula bearings. had to cut the spacers a little bit. Fitted 4th wheel kit with one as well. Polished them they look pretty cool.... Done 50KM so far and no probs yet.
