Hi gents,
I picked up a 2006 RS Venture last season for use at the family cabin when the wife and I go to visit. It has about 1200 miles on it. I noticed at the end of the season that I have 2 wheels that have the rubber pretty much trashed and should probably be replaced. Forgive the new guy, but I'm not sure what they're called exactly - they're the first two wheels that the track encounters after coming "down" from the track drive mechanism. They're located where the track makes the "bend" to horizontal. Hope that makes sense.
Any suggestions for replacement? Just order some new ones from Yamaha, or something else? Any links to a source would be appreciated. Are they hard to replace? I've never owned a snowmobile before, but I'm at least a little mechanically inclined (I don't have a service manual, however). I'll be visiting the family place at the end of October and could take care of it then, so it would be ready to go for our January visit.
Unfortunatlely I don't have any pictures at the moment, as my Venture is 2000 miles away.
Thanks for any suggestions!
BTW, It does have a factory modification done under warranty to add a couple of extra wheels near the middle of the hyfax due to the excessive hyfax wear reported to Yamaha on this model year. The previous owner had this taken care of before I purchased it. These "new" wheels appear to be fine.

Oh yeah - I don't need anything too fancy (read $$$) as I will probably only ride about 200 miles or less per season.

You can get those wheels from one of our advertisers here on the site. Just give them a call.
Or it could be this wheel assembly. Click on the yamaha parts link on my sig and take a look at which part you need on the fische.

Thanks Maineman and Sled Dog. SD, you're correct with item #18. Looks to be $80 per wheel from Yamaha, or $59 per wheel from PowersEdge (Maineman's link).
Do I need any other parts than just the wheels themselves? Bearings, etc?
Any tips for replacement? It's hard to tell what's involved from looking at the parts diagram and I can't view my sled right now. Do I need to loosen the track?
Thanks again!

Yes you will have to loosen the track count the threads and have the same count on both sides when you tighten it back up after you change the wheels. To change the wheel assembly it looks to be straight forward bolt on set up just take note of how the bracket sits prior to taking it off.
