puts a little extra stress on the slide rails.. my 2 cents

X2 I fell the same way, if hifax ware is a issue ice scratchers go a long way and only cost 40.00 bucks. I like the Yamaha spoke wheels are nice looking and only 24.00 buck etc.. from Port Yamaha :-o

It doesn't , I think you guys are over thinking it .... :o|

Most likely but with that much on just the wheel mounts I fell the rails will fail sooner. A lot of Yamaha sled hifax issues come done to the Track being over tight. ;):D

ive ran hyperfax slides with ice scratchers and zero wheels for 2 years now. if I still had the yamaha suspension under there I would be trying out the special yamaha slides the same way. since they are half the price of hyperfax.

the hyperfax slides make the rear end feel like its on butter. seriously... the difference between regular hyfax and these are a night and day difference.

That and Yamaha use a very poor aluminum for the rails. There is pics of the rails cracking and the wheel mounts on TY some where if I could fine them. Both of my Apex's ran with stock Yamaha wheels my wife nytro and now my nytro xtx will have the stock wheel under it.

ice scratcher are shure less expensive than excel 280$ or scmidth full kitt with the 4th whell at 485$

but when I look at a 135 wheel and a 130 one the difference is so little its hard to believe that it saves the hyfax or crack the rails, the difference is so smal betwen the wheels.

You ask for people's option , so we who ave used the sheet kits told you how well or awesome they work and now you are going to question that , why ask then , I will say this before wheels 200 to 300 miles top after over 2800 miles , so like I said they work great and won't crack the rails at lest they didn't on my sled ......

Schmidt Bros wheel kits are Polaris wheels and you can get them aftermarket way cheaper then they sell them for , like half the price ;)!
I use to ride Polaris so I have a lot of those wheels

I have run excel 135.8mm wheel kit for 3 seasons (over 6000-8000 kms) now with no issues change bearings in them every year. pioneer performance also has a kit but uses stock wheels but moves wheels down lower on the skid 2.5mm to achieve the same outcome.

either way you will have to buy all new wheels for skid as bearings are not removable from the stock wheels in '09 (at least the one's that came on mine.....might be a Canada thing though???)

I usually run 3000-4000 kms a year and slides (Yamaha high performance, not even the DuPont ones) always look good at end of the yea, never changed a set of slides mid season so far.

I am going to try the pioneer performance kit this year as the excel kit doesn't look like it wants to work with timbersled suspension kit I have for this year. almost all the stock wheel locations were removed / bad locations with the new linkage kit.

cheers......

just my opinion

Thanks for the info.
I will go for the easiest solution the excel 8 wheels kit they can be brought directly from. Them, all the other vendor of these wheels are out of stock.
