My 2005 RX-1 has a crack developing on one of the skid rails. I have read about a rail re enforcement kit in this forum, does anyone know where I can get one?

rails
Yes you can get them from any yamaha parts supply they are on 06 & newer apex models but they will cost about 250 us. I'm in the works of building my own for my 05 rx-1 but I will only have about 10 to 20 bucks in it. If you know of any fab shops around you take the rails to them & they should be able to build you something that will work as good but not cost so much. Hope this helps

Do you have any pictures/details of how you are fabricating them?

Well what I'm doing is about the same as the ones in this pic but I'm not going all the way to the front bolt like in pic I'm going to the middle bolt
to start with I'm taking a piece of cearal box to trace it out like one in pic then taken 1/4'' alum sheet & cutting out the pieces I need then mark the holes I need & drill them then install them to the rails like in the pic
this is very easy if you have a good drill press & a good jig saw & sander or grinder
hope this helps
I will send you pics as soon as I'm done with mine just have to find the time to finish
