I have been loosing a little bit of oil in my 06 nytro, about 1 liter in approx. 2-3000kms. Is this normal? And where is it going? I do not have a cracked oil tank (yet). I noticed some oil residue in the air box and a little bit of black around the exhaust tips. I have laid the sled over on it's side a few of times in powder (usually shutting it off within 5-10 seconds). I also got stuck with the sled vertical (skis in the air and the sled idled for about 1 minute in this position. Do I have to worry about this, is it normal, and where do I start to remedy this?

If you broke the sled in "by the book" it's possible the rings didn't get seated properly......Yamaha had a problem with the rings in 03 RX-1's that if you broke them in easy, they would end up burning a little oil (mine does, like you describe)......so when I got my 06 Nytro I rode it sort of easy for the first 30 mi. and then just ran the p*$$ out of it. So far, no oil issues. What you describe for usage is not really excessive.

I bought it with 1000mi on it so no way of telling how it was broke in. I will keep an eye on it to see if it gets worse or if i'm just worrying for no reason. Any other opinions still welcome.
