Has anybody been to the blackhills to ride this year? I've heard it's marginal. Leaving for a sled trip in two weeks. Must find snow since we have none. What about the snowy mountain range west of Laramie,WY? Trying to stay within a 10-12 hr drive in any direction.

Brian keeps a thread about the black hills condition updated fairly regularly.

Im sure you are already aware of the following, but just in case you or others arent:
The two best for trail conditions (in my opinion):

I also have a few weather bookmrks for the local stations out there:

Trails in the Black Hills
I live in Rapid City and have spent the entire weekend including tomorrow on the trails. Snow on the trails is good, some thin spots on areas with a lot of exposure. So light off trail riding can be done, just have to be careful of stumps. I found some untouched forrest service roads that were a lot of fun. I also went to the Big Horns in November. Had a blast, and they have WAY more snow now then when I was there.
P.S. There were about 60 trucks/trailers yesterday at Trailshead, 20 units at Spearfish Canyon, and another dozen at Rec Springs. LOTS of people out riding this weekend.

Not sure what your after but riding around Isabella has been nice. Been up there two of the last 3 weekends. Riding was great off trail. Put some 350 miles on in 3 days of riding.
This weekend was nice but it got very cold this morning. Going to be that way for a bit.
Last I heard there was only one cabin and a couple spots in the bunkhouse for next weekend. Id snatch it up quick.

snow come .... then goes .... over the past 10 days we've had upwards of 80 to 90 cm (30") and hardly enough left for a ride ...... another 20 to 30 for today and more on the weekend supposedly .... just gets to the point of being promising and then we get a shot of rain / mild and everything goes to $hit.
