i have two sr vipers .one is a 2015 sr viper ltx le with the ulmer racing k&n filters and programmer and venom clutch kit in a 137 and my other one is a 2016 sr viper ltx se with just a sandale magna flow muffler on it so far as i just got this one and breaking it in first .on mine which is the 2016 one i am looking at doing the header on it to go with the sandale muffler.both of these sleds are gonna get the eve flash also this summer.my question is which header should i use .which one flows more and makes good power .i have read lots of good stuff on the evo header and the straight-line one also .i see the straight-line one is shorter does that make a difference.let me know your opinions .thank you

I would like to know also for my 2016.was looking at the mbpr for 399 cad.anyone have input on it?

Spend your money on something other than a header....

I think this is worth a cut and past:

I have a Hurricane "kit" on mine, Hindle header, PCV, airbox mod. I have evo power sports header on my wife's. I will say both make "as claimed" HP.
I am going by (Butt Dyno) and running against stock or muffler alone sleds there is length's differences not feet differences in 6 to 700 feet.
6 to 700 feet because I want to be quick, I am not a lake racer that needs to be fast.

On an NA engine I would have to agree, BUT it doesn't say where they saw only a 2hp increase. Headers usually, more or less, are just power curve movers and may provide a larger power gain somewhere else in the power curve. My F150 5.0L has pretty restrictive tubular manifolds and full custom long tube headers only add ~12hp peak on a 360hp engine, BUT they add 25+ ft-lbs torque in the low-mid range which enhances driving/towing and increases MPG. Granted more torque in the low to mid range doesn't do much on an already torque rich CVT 4 stroke engine but can help MPG quite a bit. Its low on my list of "mods" but I plan on getting one eventually, probably the last thing I add since quiet can + Airbox + Evo Flash/ PCV seem to be the ticket on these sleds.

which header do you like better .are you happy with them.is it worth the money .evo claims the most hp out of a header .evo does make good stuff also

I disagree for a couple reasons. First, other manufacturers have found power in headers. On their own they are worth a few HP, when coupled with supporting mods the gains increase even more....I went through this on the Nytro.

Secondly, Excells design was a shorty header, which are great on boosted applications, but long tube designs work better on NA applications, especially with supporting mods. It's the same in the automotive world. SPI have had great success with their header on both turbo and NA, EVO has been popular and offer a similar to stock design using larger primaries. Hindle used tuned lengths that are longer because in their many years of experience building exhausts, that's what they've found to work. Hurricane used the same recipe as he did with the Nytro and came up with near identical results....a proven combo IMO. Plus you can buy his entire kit for $1200 US...great deal.

I think by posting what you did Grizz, you have discounted the other manufacturers that have found power in a header, based on one design that didn't work out. Again IMO, when doing NA mods, do them all together as that's where you will get the best results.

I haven't discounted any manufacture. Excell is stating (not me) that they believe the Viper's OEM head pipe on the stock NA engine offers adequate performance. Regardless of what others claim, Excell did extensive testing and decided that the OEM pipe wasn't all that bad so they elected not to push a product that they couldn't improve enough to make a difference. The statement was copied from their web site which hibshaman25 posted the link to.

Excell has a good reputation and I commend them for reaching out and keeping their customers informed.

I think that this info is very helpful to someone like myself that may be looking for a bolt on, minimal mod, that provides bang for your buck. If I can find an easy mod that would give me a few horsepower, or at least put more power to the track, I'd do it. But it seems that a lot of mods are just opening Pandora's box of endless $$$$$$$$$! Thanks for the tip, and I'll look for other sources of performance.

Get your clutching dialed in. 5hp to the track is 8-10 at the engine so put your money into power transfer rather than trying to make more to compensate.

And dial in suspension and handling. The danger with this is once done even going fast sled feels slower! But at least your comfortable doing it.

Faster on the trails either way with suspension and clutching done right. Ive heard many ppl since 2014 complain about vipers but none actually spend any time changing, suspension or making small clutch changes. I rode my friends 2015 bone stock, viper last year. It has horrible acceleration and handling compared to my 2009 nytro xtx. However i am clutched and the suspension has 5 years of tweeking. When i gotta pick up my 2016 viper next week you can,be sure a clutch kit and some C&a skies are going on to start. Same power as my nytro so I will be happy. On way im blowing $1000 on a exhaust and ecu reflash is if I am going turbo.

If you're not going to stud your track, and your doing the Evo flash, go with the Evo header as well, I'm sure it was tuned to work together. I had the straight line header with the Evo flash and got mixed results, the sled was a monster down low but was running out of steam by 80mph, long story short, it's Turbo time!!!
