M10 or Expert X. I want to put in a new suspension same time I change the track Tore up my ripsaw at 8,000 miles.
I'm leaning towards a ice ripper track but do not know which skid can handle my fat arse. I put a spring in the pro-action from a VK Proffesional. 6.2 flat rate as compared to Yami's 3.5 to 6 variable. Skid now handles my weight just fine. But after riding my cat for a while now again I just realize the pro-action is not quite what I want in a skid.
I have heard the Expert X is very hard to bottom out but at the same time the M10 has a overload system that is supposed to stop bottoming.
So fat arses of TY which skid is better? Looking at ride and handling. I have a Cat 136 touring skid but sale of the whole sled should get me my track and skid. I'm sure the Expert X and M10 are better than the cat skid which rides smooth but has an uncontrolable transfer that would need to be brought into check.

Charlie I have a m-10 in my rx-1 and I think if I had it to do over I would lean towards the expert-x. The m-10 is a good ride under most trail conditions but certain long gullies will still cause it to bottom and when it does it is a spine crusher. The m-10 does not leave me with any confidence in it if I wanted to do any playing around where the sled would be more than a few feet off the ground. Of course, because of your size everything changes. I would research spring options for both suspentions carefully before deciding.

Check out the TY home site and go to product reviews. At the bottom they have a head to head comparison between the two.

I have both. M-10 on an 03, and Expert-X on an 04 streched to 136. The M-10 is absolutely great for trails and is cushier than the Expert-X. However, if you want performance the Expert-X is the way to go. Transfer can be adjusted in 5 seconds from nothing to lifting the skis 2 feet in the air. It is very adjustable for all conditions very quickly and easily. The M-10 is not. The M-10 is probably the way to go if you just want a cushy trail cruiser. If you are looking for more performance and adjustability like most guys, the Expert-X can't be beat. Both are way better than the PA.
I have my Expert-X set to lift the skis about 6 inches whenever I jamb the throttle. At 50 MPH when you pound it it just lifts and goes. It is just a blast to ride.
Most fun sled I have ever ridden. Never stop smiling.

M10
I just installed an Ohlin M10 in mY 04 Warrior. I also installed Ohlin"s up front too. It is the best trail cruiser I have ridden to date. With bumps up to 2 to 3 feet it out handles my buddy's Cat skid hands down. I don't even think it has bottom out yet. At least no rammed tail bone like the old Pro Action used to do all the time. The front feels like it is riding on air. I would definitly go with the Ohlin's in an M10. I do have an Expert X that I am going to install in SRX next year. Then I will have a true comparision of each. Untill then I love my M10. I am some what of an agressive rider upto about 2 to 3 footers after that I have to slow down I can't handle that anymore.

NYSRX, the M-10 is a great suspension. But, for performance the Expert is better. No matter what you do the M-10 you can't get it to transfer. Plus, you lose a few MPH on top. There is no limit to the transfer you get on the Expert, and the adjustment is totally independent from the suspension adjustment (softness and travel). They are both great suspensions, but if you are looking for performance and adjustability over having the absolute plushest ride (the Expert is good, but not as plush as the M-10) the Expert-X can't be beat (IMHO).

JT, it was seeing your RX-1 Expert X setup @ Greenville's Snow Show a few years back is when I realized I had to have one. It was the first time I saw an Expert X under a RX-1 and it looked sweet. Since then, I not only have an Expert X but have had it revalved by Aaron @ Excell and it is truely the best skid I've ridden. It handle's the extreme rough trail like nothing especially after adding the Ohlins to the front. This was the first time I didn't have second thoughts about throwing this much money for an aftermarket part for a sled that wouldn't last. With this four stroke, I aim to get my FULL money's worth out of this skid. It's been upgrades like this that have me content with my 03.

Thanks guys I'm going to chew on this for awhile but am leaning to the expert X. Trying to get in on a group buy this august. Guy looking at my 1000 Pantera, hope he buys it as it will help fund my skid, track and a couple other things I have my eye on.
8,000 miles and the sled still runs great, not tired of it yet.

It's been awhile since I have been on the site, so sorry for the late reply. Anyway, to answer your question, some idiot from around the Detroit area (or was it California???).
