I am looking for people that own a 2003-current Dodge 2500 with the tie rod recall. My pregnant wife was driving my truck on Friday when the left tie rod suddenly broke! Luckily she was at an intersection and not driving 70 mph down the highway. I towed it to the dealership I bought it from and they told me that it was part of a nationwide recall and there were no parts available to fix it! The last I heard from them on Monday is that parts will not be available until mid APRIL! WTF?!? So I called Dodge directly and they gave me the same story and they said that their hands are tied until parts are available. Anybody else have this problem with their 2500? My truck is an '08 Cummins with 35,000 miles on it that I bought brand new. I am so pissed that I am thinking about changing my username on TY! They will not give me a loaner while my truck is at the dealer for the next 3-4 weeks because it is out of the warranty period. What's a guy to do?

Do you belong to any Ram or Dodge forums?

I know there are a few as I have visited some, and I'm a current member on ramforumz, with a "Z" .com.

Good luck. ;)!

i would ask them if they would reimburse you if you purchased an aftermarket one for them to install. would not hurt to try.

I am but its an 01, sorry!

However, is it just the tie rod end or the end and tube they are wanting to wait for? Heck I'd be throwing around the idea of seeing if I can find parts for you from up here in Ontario.....

Ooops or do like what the above guy said! Even if you grabbed one from Napa or something to get you buy until then....

aftermarket is out of the question...so the dealer says. The tie rod broke and then bent the tube and the sway bar outer link. The dealer is still waiting to hear back from Dodge.

Tell them your trading it for a Duramax or Powerstroke, I think things will get done then.

Dodge service is horrible. I only run Fords now not because of the truck but the service from my local dealer. Unreal how far above and beyond they go.

I would demand a loaner even if its the sh**** $6000 car on the lot. You need something to drive good grief.

Sorry bud wish I could help more!

I went to Dodge because of the P.O.S. 6.0 Powerjoke that I had. Bought it brand new and traded it off with 29.000 miles on it. In that time it ate injectors and pumps for breakfast. I had to find a dealer that had Ford and Dodge so they would give me a decent price to trade. GM dealers told me they didn't want a 6.0 Powerjoke on the lot!

sounds like it might be time to contact a district rep to light a fire somewhere it might do some good.

No kidding, this whole story is ridiculous (on their part not yours OP!) Are there any other Dealers around that you could contact and get their opinion as well?

I have a 2005 2500 diesel

Same thing, no parts available till 2 weeks from now

Not a lot of help but my dad has an 03 3500...developed the "death wobble" at 20,000 mile..played hell getting it fixed...did it again at 60,000 mile...played hell again...at 102,000 mile did it again...just out of warentee and would not help one bit...they said 11 front ends were better and palyed with the idea of switching but ende up going aftermarket and havent had a problem in close to the next 100000...that death wobble sucks...expessially towing a 30 foot trailer with a bunch of tractors on it...makes you see god first couple times it happens.

Hey Dab What did you do to remedy the death wobble? My son has an 03 and does it once you hit 120 km mark. Had pretty well a new front end put on but still does it. Looked at some cross member kits but...............

NOS-PRO, did yours break or are you looking into the recall? Just talked to the dealer again today and they said parts will be in around April 11-14th. This is the B.S. line the dealer tried to sell me... "The customer vehicles that are out-of-service due to a broken tie rod will take top priority and parts will be shipped to these dealers first." I think that is a line of crap but I guess I will have to wait and see. Next update will be in two weeks!!!

Last set of bars were thru ridge and krammer...we also added a double dampner stabalizer bar...cant remember the name brand off hand but I truely believe that is what helped it...I am doing a lot of work on my house right now but will try and get to dads this weekend and take a pic for you.
