That looks like an awesome day, I can hardly wait for my day to come. Also, I am in the process of collecting parts to extend my 121.
If your going to do this kind of riding with the Phazer consider removing the windshield and moving the pod down. The mountains will remove them for you. I rolled mine 3-4 times and I was lucky the handlebars anchored it in the snow when it ended upside down. I got real lucky. I was incredibly steep and it was a long way down. I was in an avalanche danger zone and had to get out quick. So I was forced to roll the sled to get it unstuck. If it had picked up momentum on the roll or became a runaway I would be looking for another sled. Just a heads up.
Things to consider, the Phazer is a heavy and low HP sled and the 144" track by 14 should not be considered adequate for mountain riding. The smallest track I saw out there was 154" and most sleds are more than 125hp. When I do this type of riding again the Phazer will not be the sled I'll be using.
Don't get me wrong, I think the Phazer is a great sled for its intended purpose. I had to work so much harder than the rider with the Summit with the 174 track. I brought a knife to a gun fight but it was one hell of a fight and wouldn't tade the experience for anything.

There is so much more to consider even more than HP. Don't get me wrong HP is important but track size, weight and suspension more so. My opion is the phazer is not a practical sled to modify into a mountain sled. By the time you put the dollars into it you might as well start with a Summit 600 with t-motion and 154 track. It's also 100 lbs lighter which is huge and has 125hp.

Thanks for the reply, some good things to know about the Phazer in those conditions. My riding in the mountains may not be be quite adventurous as yours.

I'd like to but I don't thing I could get the time off work. Pretty amazing that riding is still doable April 1. Around here we're usually done by mid March. I remember someone saying they could ride well into May.

Great pics Dave, looks like a good time was had.
What surprised me was how little oil was lossed for a Phazer without rollover valve. It was track side up for at least 3-4 minutes. When I got down to it I thought I would find oil pouring out.
Keep in mind that a naturally aspirated sled looses about 30% of its power at elevation ... So even an 800R Etec supposedly making 155hp would really only be making about 109-110hp at elevation. Your partner's 125hp Doo was likely only making 88hp at elevation. Kinda surprising when you think about it ... but the extra flotation of a 16x174 track coupled to a 480-ish lbs. sled is what really makes a difference on the mountain.My opion is the phazer is not a practical sled to modify into a mountain sled. Great seeing those photos. I'm not much of a hill climber, but I like back country riding so much more than trail riding ... so it is always motivational to see shots like that.

Another thing to consider is the width of the sled. I had my shocks on "loose" and I'm not running the sway bar and still had to fight to sidehill. The Skidoo with T motion and narrow width would flop over with just a little weight transfer.

Another thing to consider is the width of the sled. I had my shocks on "loose" and I'm not running the sway bar and still had to fight to sidehill. The Skidoo with T motion and narrow width would flop over with just a little weight transfer.
I have both the MTX and Normal width arms. I got sick of putting the 37" front on to go boon-docking and the Phazer is actually pretty easy to lay over with the 42" front on it so I just leave the 42" setup on and move the skis all the way in for 40". Mine pops the front with ease though as I still run the weak MTX torsion springs in the rear, I tried FX springs and quickly switched back.
