After weeks of waiting we find out its 80 hp what a joke, when a person goes out riding 75 percent of the sleds are 500 to 700cc,my 97 zr 440 had more power.

I do and probably countless others.

And others 500 cc sleds make how much HP?

500 Cat liquid, Approx 85?
570 fan Cat, Approx 60?
660 4 stroke Cat, Approx 60?
500 Polaris Liquid 80 Approx?
550 Polaris Fan, 60 Approx?
Not sure about Doo.
Doo 1,000 cc 4 stroke. 75 Approx and they gave up.!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am guessing a bit at the above #'s, but I am probably not too far off.

I think 80 hp is excellent from Yamahas entry level sled.

I will probably want one for my wife in 08. The Apex GT I bought her is way too much. However it only weighed 10 lbs or so more than a Vector ER so I bought it.

If the weight is really there at 454lbs, 80hp should be enough until you get to a lake. Tight trails or rough stuff, I'll take the 100lbs less compared to a nytro but in the open I'll want the 40hp more.
Once people test ride it, it will sell.

They will still have the midsize and big iron. Smaller cc sleds were a missing link in the current lineup. I think these new sleds will be great for the intended market.

CHECK OUT my 07 APEX/ATTAK............BOUNTYSIZED ;)! :D

It's NOT ALWAYS about speed :flag:

i think this type of sled will suit me just fine. if its built stronger than the nytro and my viper i will be one happy camper. around here we ride ditches and 80hp is probably as big as my 500 sxr and that sled is fun as hell!!

There are a tonne of people that want an entry level sled!! If you want more hp buy a Nytro or an Apex...both of which are excellent sleds. I really don't understand what the issue is here....everyone knew it was to be an entry level sled...and a cool one at that!!

It looks like a great sled for bumps and twisties. Different (4 strokes) for different folks.

The next time you race through twisties in the woods, or down a powerline, take a look at the speedo, you'll see that you're not going very fast, and certainly not using all of the 140 or 150 HP available to you either.

Not enough HP for you? Two words: Super Charger.

I agree with most of the comments here...In order for Yamaha to gain share in this marketplace they need to compete in all segments. You will never be the leader if you are only playing in certain segments. They are absoluely doing the right thing by filling gaps in their line up.

Wish I could see more of that picture.
Not sure if it wins any beauty contests.
Do they have a windsheild for it? You don't want to scare away new riders by freezing them to death!

The Windsheild is HUGE!!!
Hopfully there will be an option on the size of it...If not (and if i gets one) it will be coming off...

Looked on the website . Several different models and couple of them have the windsheild. If it is for the wife it needs a windshield. Perhaps that is sad but it is true.
