Why are we so negative with the new SR Viper

I agree, Yamaha need a new bump sled and they GOT IT! They have never had one. Really!! Unless we spent a ton of cash, we didn't have a ditch banger or even a rough trail sled!

Nobody's even ridden one and its already junk, every year at this time, its the same, everybody is leaving for another brand, cpl weeks pass, then they start posting again and life gets better, hilarious,i like the sled and think it will be a winner,i dont have time to stress with a new snowmobile, going for a spin, see ya

so basically you're saying, "you all think it's junk but haven't ridden it, I think it's great.............. but also haven't ridden it." So what's your point?

If you read me correctly, Not sure who you are replying to? I am not trashing this sled. Can't wait to try it. I have ridden pro cross sleds and all other brands. Love our marriage with this ACT sled.

I SO want this to be a great sled. I'm ready to snow-check one right now!! Yet, all I read and hear from friends is that this chassis is prone to early failure. The motor is a known quantity, albeit in a somewhat revised format, but the chassis is also a known quantity.. it's hit and miss junk. Everyone who I know with a 1100T says it's the best sled they've owned for the first two weeks until it starts spending more time at the dealership that on the snow. THAT is NOT the Yamaha that we know and love. People are justified in their doubts.
Of course, what we all want is for Yamaha to wave their magic wand over this chassis and make it as bullet proof as their motors and drivetrains, to magically add 20hp NA or 80hp boosted but maintain reliability and lighten the package by about 60 lbs. What we need to realize is that magic doesn't exist. The laws of physics, economics and reality do.. you can't have cheap, light, powerful and reliable. Pick two.. Yamaha used to be Reliable and Powerful but also expensive and heavy. They've gone light*ish and powerful*ish with this sled but cheaper and let's hope that they haven't sacrificed reliability.

What happens on hard pack when not enough snow sprays up into the hole designed for cooling the viper?? Bet there's a lot of over heating issues..not to mention blown crank issues..

Have you checked your Apex ? Your Apex has got the same hole. I,m not sure why everyone is so concerned about the hole ? LOL

Yes it has overheating issues..had to install rear heat exchanger and ice scratchers..that's my point

I think the biggest concern for many including me is worried about the materials, craftmenship and QC that is lacking with AC. Those sleds do leave you hanging. Seen it first hand. WE just want assurance from Yamaha that these issues will not come across to the yamaha product line.

I think we all accept the handling quirks and such. However they are all fixable and the sled never leaves you out in the bush. WE just wont accept reliability issues, broken drive shafts, bad chain cases, reverse that does not work, poor fuel mapping etc. These are issues that the aftermarket just cant address. The aftermarket adresses Yamaha's issues to make a reliable sled a good handling and ergonomic sled.
AMEN!!!!!!
This I my biggest concern. If this new sled has the typical Yamaha reliability and quality that we are all used to, I don't care who builds the damn thing.
