Now my hand warmers suck, but why do i need to buy this yamaheater contraption? Im sure all it does is give more power to the grips, has anyone figured out a workaround? Im going to try fix this problem this weekend without a yamaheater.

Why? Easy. Because Rock's Yamaheater is well designed, easy to install and works as advertised.

And you don't risk burning out your hand warmer elements using other aftermarket ones. Keep in mind that the ECU controls the voltage output to the warmers, like no power to them under 4000rpm.

I'm not sure you really need it... I was out in -20 weather this weekend in Hayward and my hands didn't get cold at all.

Well everybody is different -- maybe your such the man you could never get cold hands. Maybe you where Beaver skin gloves.
It was colder than that here. I consider Yamaheaters to be mandatory upgrades/ equipment on most Yamaha 4 stroke sleds.

Also the windshield and handguards can play a role. Some of the windshields are ridiculously small.

Yamaheater is the best .You don't need it , you can have cold hands or enjoy warm hands .I can say they work and the service is the best .

No need for that comment and no I don't WEAR beaver skin gloves. They take a bit to warm up but once they do they get plenty hot, I had to turn them down to about half most the time. Like you said though everyone is different.

all hands are different,as are all sleds, but if ya got a cold yammi ya know it! My 03 stock are awsome, my 07 are junk. Yammaheaters work period. If you can't believe the owners who can ya believe?? I would NOT call this a contraption, IT WORKS GREAT!!

The simple fact is, some sleds have manufacturing tolerances lined up to the good of the owner, others don't. Couple that with varying levels of cold tolerance/windshield height/ glove choice......... I could go on here.

8 posts and probably no searching.....go ahead and do your workaround (there are other options and they are on this site) but seriously, I'll bet you'd save yourself alot of time and money by just using the time, effort and research Rock has put into developing this product. It just plain works. Don't try to reinvent the wheel....or do...and create another product at a cheaper price.
My hand warmers sucked! I tried the updated bars, and they still sucked! After reading through many potential solutions here on TY, I put my stock bars back on, with the wiring harness from the updated bars. My hands have been toasty warm for the past two seasons with no problems. I very rarely turn the heaters up past half and generally run 1 to 2 bars. At the time I did this, it seemed to be the best, most common, cheapest fix on here. The Yamaheater came out shortly afterward, and seems to be a great fix also. I just prefer to go with the no cost fix.

Several work around, but the Yamaheater is Plug and Play. I've looked into the other work arounds.
Some just wire up a 2 way toggle to flip between the computer and an 12v lead from the battery. This causes a Code to flash though while on the 12V and get VERY annoying at night.
Others wire up the grips in parallel instead of series IF their grips came in series from the factory (06' bar update harness). BUT there is some thought on this that it causes too much power draw through the computer. My Phazer Is fine down to 0*f, then they get chilly at speed. Yamahaheater is on my list of upgrades and I've now moved it up the list right behind the roll over valve kit. My handwarmers are good enough to keep my hands warm IF I wear my Ice Armor mitts but riding with mitts kinda sucks.
