just left the snowmobile show here in ontario canada...can anyone explain why the mbrp is 399 for the header...yet couple booths down the slp is 700 for the header. Whats the best header and what are the main difference

Actually one vendor dropped the header they sold as the header does not make that much difference compared to the after market can. Don't get me wrong a trick header can help but for your dollar other mods give more, in my opinion. I run the MBRP can and am very happy with it. I would suggest the best bang for the buck would be clutch kit, MBRP muffler, air box mod, and EVO ecu flash. That should get you around 160 horsepower or so I do not remember the exact numbers.

I sure would like to test headers. Is big difference in lengths of the MBRP vs Evo. Cost wise also. Price wise I don't know why some are so much $. But I do know MBRP can mass produce since they make exhaust for just about everything. Probably brings down cost a lot. I will not comment on quality right now but I will say you don't always get what you pay for.

i would love some comparison as well...i dont mind paying at all but if you dont have to you dont have to.....i know i paid more for my car exhaust then most brands but i wanted 304, tig welded and mandrel bent and good quality flex.

Hopefully someone does some test before i spend lol which is gotta be soon lol

Stingray you are right but these sleds or at least I need every little bit I can get reliably and not necessarily on top end. So it may not seem so glorious to some but get more power in mid and around 8500-9000 rpm where this motor should be peaking and I can pull more gear and clutching which means more speed very reliably. I don't want to worry about all the extra systems a Turbo adds failing me on a ten mile wide open river run to the next town. Something many do often.
So what I am saying is many are willing to pay for power. I bet I am very close $ wise with a turbo which would have been easier and faster. But I still am not convinced of reliability even from factory. Also not convinced that EVO tune at 9800rpm is safe either. So as of now a header and maybe the Ulmer cam are about all that there is other than can and airbox which can be done with pretty much stock reliability. That company that chose not to offer header made a mistake.

I agree with you, my point was some that want bang for there buck may not want the header. If you are after every last horsepower by all means do the header. I would be hands down the EVO header though for the quality and backing, but I can't justify that much money for that little upgrade I prefer to spend my bucks on the low hanging fruit.

BTW I will be removing my MBRP as I am installing a turbo very soon, but was very pleased with cost and performance of the MBRP.

Well hope to this winter. Is reason I am studding. Is almost always good ice on river 5minute ride from my house. With all my wheels on skid don't need snow. Will for sure get ahold of a MBRP to compare to EVO power wise. Like I said though the mid and lower top gains are hard to verify other than on a Dyno. You feel them and it brings consistency way up but you normally don't have to clutch for them or gain much top speed from them. Maybe EVO,MBRP or ULmer will Dyno the headers?

Stingray the EVO header is pretty but fit terribly and have not had any support after numerous tries. Is reason EVO gets no support at all from me. I will definitely be trying a MBRP header as long as it fits. Hoping the shorter length gives power a bit lower.
