hi guys
i am having a problem with my 2003 rx1 mountain. i had the rear of the sled up higher than the res tank and bleed the system and did a test run. she worked fine and the rear cool and heat exchangers were warm. the temp light came on 3 times today and the heat exchangers were ice cold but most of the time when the light wasnt on they were warm. i was wondering if there was airlocked somewhere in the system. what would cause the heat exchangers to be cold and warm sometimes? usually just after i shut the engine off and go again after she is cold the light would come on but eventually she would get warm. i dont have a clue of what is going on and i am only new at this. please let me know what to do as soon as possible! i think its either airlocked or the coolant pump may be going!

Did you replace or check the temp sensor as suggested in your other post? Also bleed with the nose higher than the tail using the reservoir cover and the top bleeder screw.

Instead of using the bleeder, when I refilled my coolant, I cracked open the cap of the overflow coolant tank and rode up a sharp incline (ramp or snowbank) with the nose of the sled up as high as possible and locked the parking brake. As the temp rose I would sit/stand on the sled and rock it around to force any air bubbles out of the system.
I never had a problem after bleeding it this way.

i'll try bleeding it that way grimm , and no Rxmax i didnt replace the temp sensor because i dont think that is the problem because if that was coming on when the heat exchangers was cold so i figured that it is just airlocked and the enor will never come on when she was warm. so i will find a lope tomorrow and bleed it the way grimm told me to. also, just wondering why is it better to bleed the system with nose up instead of tail up?

I'm not saying it's better, but I do think it's easier. You've tried other tips, why not try mine?

the temp sensors are really finikey if the get hit at all the scew up its just a thought happened to me

well today was racing around on the harbour and notice the temp light coming on and theni just went on just not taking notice to it and it went away. i didnt slow down or anything. so i think it may be the temp sensor. what will i need to do to replace this? is it just the wiring part?

This is what you need. Under the thermostat.
