Will i like a phazer?

I've been thinking about buying a phazer. Right now I have a nytro MTX for off trail riding. Will a phazer take some getting used too or will I transition just fine? I'm looking for a fun trail riding sled and thought the phazer might do the trick. Any feed back would be great.

I just got a '16 phazer rtx this winter. I'd never driven one before this year. I'm use to riding 550 fans and 600 etecs but the phazer is a ton more fun than the similar powered 'doos. You just have to play around with your suspension/carbides to find a comfortable setup. I almost rolled mine the first turn I took but after changing my setup around and leaning a bit more it's great.

One thing I think I should have done was get the xtx. The rtx is a pain to get going on top of powder if you have to go around anything off the trail. It will do it just not very easily. I was in Exeter, ON this weekend and they had about 2 feet of snow but no groomers had been through.

I have a Phazer MTX. It's nice. I took a Nytro XTX for a quick test ride before I bought the Phazer and opted for the Phazer for it's relative "lightness" and maneuverability. I was looking for something that I could weave in between the trees.

As for on trail, I find the Phazer lacking in excitement - it'll get you from point "A" to "B". The Phazer requires some "Body English" to help keep things planted. I do like that.

If I had to do it again, I'd have bought the Nytro XTX, and learned to muscle the thing through the woods like I like to do with the Phazer MTX.

I just picked up a 09 Phazer GT for my son and took it for a ride last night. I had an Apex and now drive a Nytro XTX but have never driven a Phazer. I was pleasantly surprised by the peppy great sounding motor. It also was fun in the trails. The sled has to be ridden. It is very rider active not a sit down sled.

My thoughts exactly, the Phazer is a fun sled IF you're the type that likes to use body english. I also went to purchase a Nytro and came home with my Phazer too! I'd looks for one that's been stretched to 136"+ or at the minimum has a Freeride track installed, the shorties are pretty squirmy with the stock 1" ripsaw tracks.

A phazer is like riding a dirt bike or quad and needs lots of rider input as stated above. Once set up right it will out do most other sleds in the twists and jumps.
We had a phazer out run 2 nytros and 2 turbo vipers two weeks ago in the wooded twists and road approaches. FWIW.

If you like to " ride" as sled a Phazer is a great choice. If you've ridden a dirt bike its not like that at all. Don't know where the "dirt bike" sales pitch is came from when it was released or how it's even comparable to one. I've riden/raced both and if you make a corner on one like a dirt bike you'll be flipping over for sure
If your quad friendly and comfortable pushing it or just out for a leisurely ride then the Phazer will fit right into your riding habits. Like above it does require rider input.
Myself it makes for a very fun ride every time I take it out. Even pulling the kids around on the tobbogan for hours which I do lots. It decent on fuel, very low cost to maintain. It is however a bit difficult and time consuming to change oil, plugs ect ect. With the help and tutorials on this site it's been a fantastic experience maintaining and upgrading some things. 14000 on my old 07 and rolled over 6600 on my 14 I bought a year old. Some bugs to work out on both but have never left me dead on the trail. Very reliable!!!
Wish ya luck!!! One last thing I'll add, XTX is the way to go. Or an older already extended one.

Agree with above. A long track (144) with a 1.5" track seem perfect from what I've witnessed.

Totaling mine was the best thing for it & myself after 3 years.... Happy on Nytros now.

Was my first 4 stroke & I got a decent deal on it, never rode one.
Took some getting used to, always plowed so bad in corners no matter what I did to it or how much my bum hung off it, made a less enjoyable ride at times.
Started throwing $$$ at it right away (UP Bushman's stuff is superb & a must IMO, skis, different track - 1 1/2" freeride), ball joints, Oilites as Yamaha uses plastic crap as "bushings", various things- I didn't do good research on them first time.

I had Curves, SPG float plate, A-arm protectors, freeride track on a 121" shorty and that thing was good in some pretty deep powder- keep on the happy flipper and going forward didn't get stuck.

I'd never buy another....

Thanks for all the input. I would have no problem throwing my body around. Ever try to drive a nytro MTX with out a sway bar down a windy trail? Its not an easy task. Just looking for a sled I can jump on and go for a rip when I'm bored around the house. I don't need to go 100mph so I'm not worried about speed. Just looking for something fun to rip around on.
