Hey guys. Just bought my sidewinder and now that I have a couple miles on it I’m starting to squeeze the trigger a little bit more. But I’ve notice that it’ll just fall on its face, like flat out carrying the skis to nose dive, then as fast as it drops it picks back up and will lift the skis again. Any help or input would be great.

Any codes? That can happen if the throttle cable free play is too tight.

No codes or warning lights. And it don’t happen often enough to duplicate.Any codes? That can happen if the throttle cable free play is too tight.
I was kinda wondering if it was a break in thing , wich would be a little odd for YamahaMine did the same. Until it didn’t. Dealer said some react this way during break in

It does sound like it could be related to the throttle. I remember back when I had an 08 Nytro after a few years the throttle lever felt like it had a lot of play. I decided to take some slack out of the cable but apparently made it too tight. It would cut out just like you mention and it was even worse when turning the bars.

Do you know how miles you had when it finally quit doing it? I've been dealing with the same problem, it would be great if it would just quit. I haven't been able to figure out a cure.

I had same issue with mine last year. It spent a week at the dealer and they found nothing specific. Just checked connections etc. It was fine after. I started a thread on it last season.

Second day out. It just kept doing it all morning. Put in fresh gas in afternoon and held the throttle down as it kept cutting out. Finally cleared. Thought it was bad gas but I had gas in from the same source. Dealer told me after the fact

Mine did the same thing twice at around 350 miles and did not do it again for the last 300 miles.
When it happened, was doing a lot of powder riding and it was very cold!

This might not be the problem but figured I would throw this out in case it was. There is another discussion on this forum about oil leak (do a search...) and I had a similar problem where couldn't get past half throttle was cutting out and then looked down and oil on my right running board. Turns out the oil rollover valve freezes up stuck closed forcing oil out of the seal to the oil tank. It was cold morning in Quebec and it cleared up as soon as I got to a gas station and let it idle next to a wall that was warm with sunshine. No more oil leak for next 2 days of riding and no cutting out which had me bewildered, but hey, with a warranty ride it till it doesn't go lol !!. You will see detailed explanation in the discussion where you disconnect oil line to tank and it hisses pressure at you. Again, might not be issue but I think a lot of the sporadic cutting out people report are related to this. Dealer confirmed that was issue and I have spare oil rollover valve they gave me that I carry and same pieces and parts the gentleman in the discussion used to bypass the oil rollover valve to prove that was issue. I will bypass it if out on the trail and ever happens again.

My new sled started doing this at the end of the day yesterday - lots of snow dust/snowy day. I've brought it in and let it thaw, I'm going to take it for a ride tomorrow and see if it clears. It started right after we stopped for a 15 min break - I'm wonder if moisture has accumulated in t he boost control hose and froze and started over boosting.

I picked mine up on Tuesday, Rode it 20 miles Tuesday night no issues. Wednesday out riding and super cold here in N. Maine, and lots of snow dust...stop to take a couple pictures and then when I start it back up, the thing won’t go past 50 mph without cutting out and backfiring like crazy. I was on my way right back to dealer with it, and we pulled over and stopped for a few minutes. When I started it back up, it ran fine..infact better than it was before the cutting out happened. Rest of yesterday it was fine, and today it ran like a monster...seems to keep getting faster and faster every 50-75 miles...have 243 mikes on the sled as of now.
Was told the relays/sensors froze up and caused the issue...was told it happens sometimes but usually clears itself up...just hope it doesn’t happen again.

This might be completely off topic....
But Tom read me something off Facebook(Myself I cant stand FB and stay far from it) where some guy said the RED elbow that goes into the fuel tank(top left side) is the return line(?) I guess and also a check valve is inside that red elbow, So i had some recent pics of mine when I took it apart.
Anyway, this guy(unknown guy) said the RED one is no good, and must be updated to black one. Said the fuel was getting cut off and then the engine will cut out. Who knows if this is right or wrong or even same issue.
But I wondered if anyone here heard of the red elbow being no good and needing black one? I try to keep up on this site but never read this before, and coming from FB who knows if its even right.
Pic of my RED elbow which is an 18.

My 137 LTX-LE did the same thing when new in similar conditions. Cured itself and have not seen it since in 3,500 miles...Hey guys. Dan maybe just take the red elbow off and paint it black. LOL! Why would there be a check valve on a return line like that? Maybe so the fuel doesn't siphon back? It looks more like a vent line doesn't it?
