I've been on multiple dodge forums looking for some help with none to be had. I have the manual for my truck and the wiring diagrams are in there I just don't know how to decipher them.
So my question is. Does anyone on here have a 2006 Dodge Ram 2500 that they have wired in for a truck cap. I bought a used cap that did not come with any wiring instructions. So far I have found out that the wires near the spare is a good place to start, and the White/Tan wire is the break light wire. Does any one know if this is correct? Also I need to know what colour wire is the 12V constant, for the caps interior led light.
Thanks in advance for any help.

if it has the rv plug this site should help http://rvbasics.com/techtips/rv-travel- ... iring.html. most of what you are looking for is there. just remeber that the truck colour does not correspond with the pins in the plug.
i know gm you have to add a fuse for the 12v wire to work.

The link did not work. I know whats inside the pin. Its the colour of the wire that leeds to the pin is what I'm looking for.

I have an 06 2500 5.9 and most guys that put a cap on there bed tap into the third light on the cab of the truck and tap into the bed lights off the same light for the interior of the cap.

Thats a good idea. But I will be only running the cap in the winter. It will be off in the summer. Not sure I want wires hanging out of the 3rd light on the cab.

ummmm roll the wires up and tuck them in behind the third light during the summer and unroll them in the winter and connect them to the cap in the winter.
Got the answer over on snowest.
White/Tan wire is the break light
Red/Violet is the 12v
Ground pretty self explanatory.
These are the wires under the truck bed near the spare tire.
Cheers.

Just a bit of a FYI. I ended up taking the ground (Black wire) and the Power 12v( Red/Violet wire) from the main wire harness right beside the spare tire. The white/Tan wire I took right from the right side tail light.
Let it snow!!!!!!!
