So the other i was driving the viper, as usual once in a while when reverse is used it would grind. So I shut off the motor when it was doing this, now it has nothing! Meaning the starter solinoid clicks but no starter. I tried everything, check the relays, checked the fuses, turned the motor, rotated the secondary to move the track, checked the new battery and connections, pulled off the reverse servo took it apart to check the brushes and sorts, trying moving the gear fork and still nothing. What gives. Of course called the dealership and they said they can’t say until i bring it in. Fak. Not happy. It always started great but not now. Anyone?

Worst case your starter went out, but try checking the battery connections and relay connections under the seat, mine always seem to work loose.

Instantly the starter quits? Does anyone know if there is a safety switch somewhere that prevents starting in gear?

Well if I cross my fingers I might have diagnosed that the starter solenoid stuck, did some testing according to the service manual and it seems like it failed. But it still doesn’t make sense how instantly when I shut off the motor when the reverse was grinding how the solenoid can go south!

My starter went out on me when my sled caught fire. Viper would crank twice then nothing. All it would do is just arc once the positive wire touches the positive on the battery. New starter and it cranks like it should.
