Hey members I truly don't know what to say about this purchase of mine,I spent $15,000. on a squeaky snowmobile! That's right the front end of this Viper is horrible! You can hear it coming over a hundred yards away, and on the sled its squeaking all the time on the trail.I thought at first it was the bottom ball joint on one side but now it seems to be all over.If I can figure how to upload a video you guys' would laugh, sure sucks, sounds like an old rusted combine going to work. Don't say spray some lube every where on the joints 'cause the joints and wear points are not supposed to be lubricated. Is this the normal thing for a new sled,YAMAHA?

Have you contacted your dealer? That's your first avenue for resolving issues like these.

My dads and myn does it two... It's the sway bar bushings. I usually just try to cram some red grease in there and it usually keeps it at bay for 100 miles then it comes back....

All snowmobiles do this. You just normally can't hear it because of the two-stroke engine.

I would like to hear this squeaking...see if you have success posting it on Youtube, then post the link here.

The Nytro and Apex will do this too if you have Fox Floats.. maybe its the way they mount... no idea.

Try some lube even if those areas aren't needed to be lubed, it might stop the squeaking, avoid wd40 use a quality water proof lube.

Mine also made the same sound I traced it to the rubber boots dry on steering links.

Well yes viper Dave I addressed this issue to my dealer when I took the sled in for the chain case repair. The mech. could not get the front end to squeak. So later when I got the sled home and rode it the noise was back. Now it seems that there are more on the sway bar bushings and somewhere else! This is bull, is this the new generation of chassis?

And the 2nd thing is if your not happy with it and the dealer cant fix it, then sell it and move on.

Well would you rather REPLACE every single bushing and joint every 3000mi because they are WORE out? Every Yamaha I owned previously this was norm till aftermarket helped. My Viper has 8000mi and has a lot of miles in mud water and everything I have not replaced any of that due to wear. So a little lube here or there is really not something to call doom and gloom about. As for the mechanic not finding it maybe you or he just washed it and water quieted it? Could you have bounced it up and down to show him when you picked it up? I am sorry if you think I am being hard on you but I grew up knowing that riding the heck out of my sled all winter meant a complete tear down and inspection/clean/lube in spring all the newer sleds have meant is More Miles, jumps and comfort. The maintainence other than motor has not really changed. Is what it is. Factory cannot do everything.

I'm wondering if this could be something else...like a tight drive belt. Is it a consistent whine? Why wouldn't it make the sound when the sled isn't running? Or does it?

Well guys' I truley know my sleds and where sounds come from and where they should and shouldn't be! I have a '99 VT 600 with 15,000kms. on her and she sounds nothing like this. OK also the kicker is the sled only had 475 miles on it when the first squeak started.I truly believe that when things are made from plastic you will get plastic sounds. No problem dudes I can cure the issue,if you go back I asked if anybody elses SRVIPER had this built in issue, that's all! Thanks.
