Wrecked 04 RX-1

Well my 04 RX-1 is in bad shape. Son got into an accident and took out the right front, oil tank, crack in bulkhead and the hood. Adjuster coming this morning and he told me over the phone that they are getting 30-40% for a buyback on sleds which almost makes it not worth it to buy it back. Is it a tough job to replace the bulk head? I hate to see it go for parts but it is starting to look like it will have to. Might be a Warrior or an Attack in my future.......

The bill shouldn't be more than $1800 - $2000 with labor.

One bulkhead half is about $290 I think, and you'll need to buy about (4) 10 pks. of various rivets. It's not that hard to do, just be sure to make a good reference as to how the gold colored bushings are installed in the bulkhead(s) (X# of turns, or mm from bulkhead) when you pull the front motor mount bolts. This sets your clutch alignment. You have to pull the entire assy. forward to clear the top studs, then you can seperate the halves. I did it in about 8 hours, first time.

If you don't care about underside astetics, get an air chissel, as it makes very short work of the rivets with minimal gouging.

As for the hood, I think Tracks USA has clear ones on clearance for $169.00 or something???

It's up to you, but I think you could fix it for less than what you'd pay to buy it back.

Looked at buying back my brother's wrecked 04 warrior (my dad and also have 04 warriors), so it seemed to make sense, until they gave us the price. It was 32% to buy back wich made it like $3000! and it was in REALY BAD SHAPE....Basically the shocks, motor, electrical and some misc. parts were all that were salvageable. Tunnel, bulkhead and front suspension were all twisted or cracked and the hood, guages, seat, bars, etc. were totally F'd..... Some wrecking yard will give them like $1000 for it, tops!

The guy that bought my 03 RX-1, hit colver,right side bulkhead broke,2 a-arms, right side plastic, bent rail in m-10, windshield, mirrors , and speedo guage pod. gave him check for $3600.00 plus kept sled. had back on trail for $800.00 and our labor!!

Boy, that would sure sound good to me. I really like my 04 RX-1 I guess it is sentimental value. If there is a way to get a deal like that I will surely take it.

I have ridden the new ones (Apex) but feel like I am exposed way too much. No windshield and too high up in the air IMO. We will see what happens.
