Got most of the custom bling done.
I threw on a silver skid plate last night.
The only thing keeping me off the snow. (other than too much work)
I only have a couple more items to put on.
Rear Skinz bag and at some point I'll have some Doo Polits to try. (silver hoops)

We landed good snow yesterday, so I got it out for some seat time today.
This XTX seems like it will be a much better trail sled than last year's shorty.
On an abandon railway line today with one section of good bumps made from other sleds.
High speed approx 70-80 MPH this XTX soaks it up very nice.

The yellow warning and coolant icon flashed for a short time at about 50 kms into the ride. Never came back on after that.
Strange...?? We have tons of soft snow and it was -15 C.

Here are some photos of my custom job.

Still cold enough.
Even with the wind defelctors etc. there is this rush of air that hits you in the chest.
I'm still trying to figure where that bast of air comes from.
I think it reaches around the wide part of the hood then sweeps up under your arms.

I can't imagine going without this set up... -15 C or colder.

Yes medium 11" from the Yamaha site.
When you sit the air is deflected well enough over your helmet.
I'm nearly 6' and if I tuck in a little, no air buffeting off the top of my head. If I sit tall then I can feel it hit my head more.
This is of course at higher speeds wide open straight trails or across lakes.
Slow tight or winding tails no worries.

The taller 14" shield... may work better for taller guys.
But the side deflectors are no different.
I'm beginning to think they should longer down the sides.

will those hand shields bend need to invest in a pair that can bend and not break haha came out of a high banked corner a wee bit to hard and pulled the skis off the ground and jumped the bank at an angle when the sled hit the ground i just heard CRACK and was relieved when it was only the handwarmers

Looks sweeeeeeet! Who did your vinyl work?

The hand shields are Yamaha soft covers that stretch and velcro right over the factory hand guards.
Very easy to install.
Here is the link.

Graphics are my personal design.
Mfg. and installed by myslef.
Colors are white, blue, silver metallic, black and chrome.
Developed to cover over most of the OEM stuff in nice taste.
While keeping the correct logos on the machine.
Intent... Have them wondering when Yamaha did this as a special edition.
OEM decals are still there underneath in case I change my mind or for a future owner who may want back to original look.

I had the same problem with the light on my sled last year,But We did not have any soft snow and mild temps. Weird yours did it with cold temps and soft snow,Any idea why?

I'm not sure.
I had just finished pounding the crap out of it down the railway line 70 mph
Maybe only 2 miles or so.
(nice break in, really I'm on and off the throttle)
Fully studded... you would think snow is just flying aound underneath.
Light came on for a brief time.
So I slowed down the pace a bit and then was back to normal.
I practially burned off a set of sliders too.
Skis were up in the air quite a bit, but I was having fun.
I'm going to check coolent levels soon.

Many times last year the light came on my 08 when the trail was super hard. (144 studs)
Late at night -10 C after a warm day.

Maybe this year I'm going to go for an extra heat exchanger.
Oh Yamaha where does it end??

Check your coolent levels!!
Mine must of had a air pocket in the system.
Overflow tank was empty.
Was topped up when I started the first ride.
Just filled it up and will ride and look for any level change.

Mine came on the first ride as well. I ended up taking out some of the coolant (I think it was about 20 oz.) and replaced it with distilled water. My light only came on one other time, but the conditions were very bad.

Hey Mach9 and Lucky_7,
When I picked up my RTXSE the dealer mech. warned me that the coolant res. will usually be on the low side when cold. He said last year with his 08 if he filled it up to the full mark it would just puke it all out when hot.........just something to keep in mind.
