Id say i do 70% trail riding 30% off trail but im starting do to more off trail. Currently the sled steers like a tank. Im sick of following other tracks and having to use everything I have to ride it.

Should I go with diffrent carbides or skis? I just want something that doesnt follow other tracks and steers easy.

I put 6.9 pilots on my xtx with carbides and the extra runner on the side. It handles great now. Turns sharper. Doesn't follow other tracks. And floats a lot better in deep snow. Just my 2 cents. I hope this helps
. Same here

I put the agressive snow trackers on and they work great.

Ski's

I ran stock ski's, USI X2's, and 6.9 Pilots.

Stock ski's were ok. I had the triple points and shimmed the ski rubber. They had heavy steering but with very little to no darting. But the ski's pushed bad in the corners and sucked in deep snow.

USI's were not happy on the Nytro. Very, very, heavy steering and hunted bad below 40 mph.

The 6.9 Pilots are great. They steer easy, very little push, very little darting, and float great in the deep snow. Of all the ski's I've tried I like them the best.

What Pilots do you have Larry?? I am thinking of changing my ski's out as they suck in off trail riding here in Michigan. Plus what other parts would I need?? Just want to order everything and slap it together.

I have the 6.9 Pilot skis. Ski Doo sells the 5.7's which are the standard skis on the current Ski Doo's. They are 5.7 inches wide. The 6.9 Pilots are te same as the 5.7's but are 6.9 inches wide.

The 6.9 Pilots are great in the deep snow because of the width and have the easy steering of the Pilot profile. You can order them at a Ski Doo dealer from their parts and accessory catalog. You can order two kind of skis. One's with the holes already drilled on the out side of the ski for the second carbide. Or with the holes not pre-drilled. I am running carbides both on the center and on the out side.

Buy the USI ski mount kit from USI. Which comes with a rubber insert, bolts, and bushings. This kit works great on the Pilot skis. The rubber fits almost perfect. You just need to cut one of the bushings about 1/8 inch to make it all fit. Use a 1/4 inch plastic shim under the rubber and you are good to go.

Thanks Larry,

Do you have the trail Pilots?? And where did you buy the USI stuff from??
About how much for everything??

Thanks for the info.

Yes I have the trail Pilots. The spindle mounting position is in the center of the ski. No off set.

I got the USI stuff from USI direct. Tell them you want a USI mount kit for their skis for the Yamaha Nytro. They'll send you the rubber insert, bushings, and bolts for each ski. ~$40.00 total.
