Ok, so I have the 2012 Apex XTX on order. What I would like is to hear from Owners about the Highlights of their sleds, both good and bad.
I know guys have posted on this all winter and I searched and researched the threads before I ordered mine. I just thought having all the comments in one place would be handy.
Please try to be positive, even with the bad experiences, so this thread may continue.
Thanks.

They need to make snow trackers the offical carbide of Yamaha.
The power and ride of the XTX was very good for trail riding. I think it could have a little more on the top end.
Seating position was great and EPS is a winner. They should just sell them for 10,500 or 11,000 right off the bat and sell more of them instead of waiting until January to blow them out.

Love my XTX, Best sled i've ever owned. EPS is really nice, all but elliminates the weight issue. Can ride all day and not feel beat up.
Skis still dart too much, eats hyfax every 500 mi., drone is still there, ski lift is as well but hey no sled is perfect . . . . . . been looking since 1971!
I think your going to really enjoy next season.

I swear if I go thru a set of hyfax every 500 miles ill lose my mind. I am not worried about $50 a set as much as the pain in the arse it is to change them. And yes I've tried the reverse trick, the pull 'em with a truck trick. Give me a break.
And if I need 'marginal' snow kits to ride in 3 feet of powder then they need to be STOCK or offered free and I'll add them myself.
But hey, maybe they will have bigger / more wheels on my 12 and I'll be totally happy. I hope so. I'm betting $14000 on it.

Be ready to loose your mind.........how about smoking through a set from Greenland to houghton, maybe 50 miles. My brother did on his 2011! I did warn him to do a mod or two LOL. I bet he adds a pioneer kit before next winter. Otherwise, I would say that the sled is pretty SWEET!!! Does most things about 5 percent better than my 07 attack.

Two marginal snow wheel kit's from Yamaha, One set on curve of trail in front and one in the proper spot in rear (talk to Yamaha for the correct kit and location) and don't replace the hifax till you can get a 10 mm wrench over the edge and they will go a looong time. A friend has an XTX and it was the same story but this solves the problem. I think he has 1600 or so mile's on the last pair and the wear stop's just before the wear line just like all the other Yamaha's have in the past.

My dad has a xtx and we got larger wheels from our dealer and 800 miles and not even thinkin about replacing the hyfax. They wear to that certain point then seem to go forever.

Yamaha did move the wheel mounts 1.5 mm down on the 2012 XTX. Should help. Saw the new tech manual last week.

It appears that they moved the front bogie wheels in the skid ahead too. I just picked up my '12 Apex XTX up and comparing it to the picture in the Spring 2011 AmSnow magazine(vol 25 issue 6 page 33) the front wheels on my skid are ahead of the ones in the picture. There are two vertical holes to mount wheels in the rails where the '11's apparently had them.

Excell wheels solve all hyfax problems! 3,000 mi and just now i changed the hyfax.

I'm sure your going to love it !!
^^ +1 on the Excell wheels ! No noticeable wear all season . The original hyfax lasted 50miles with oem wheel and suspension setup .
The semi aggressive snowtrackers stopped all the darting but did take away some top end . The sled is a torque monster but quickly runs out of steam up top. Be prepared to want more if speed is your thing.
Original suspension setup was too stiff for my 200lbs . After some adjustment it's much better. I upgraded to Ohlins up front to take care of all crap we call trails around here .
Cold start issue . The exup was not adjusted properly from the factory on my sled. Check your cable freeplay if your wondering about your xtx. It starts much better now but still takes 2 attempts under -20*cel.
Trail manners and Yamaha fit and finish are as close to a Ferreri like as your going to get . The brutal low end power and EPS make tight twisty trails a thrill beyond words. Love the amount of power it can lay down between turns !!
Overall i'm very happy with my XTX. Now, if it only had 200hp ,,it would be perfect .
Enjoy your new Sled
