Hey guys. So here is my problem. Just bought a new battery a month ago. My sled has been giving me problems when trying to start it. I turn the key to on and all the lights and such show up. No problem there. When i turn the key to start the sled it sometimes just makes an audible click. I have to try turning the key to start multiple times before it will actually turn over and start right up. My problem is that this only happens every once in a while. Sometimes it works fine with no problems. Then last night for the first time i couldnt get it to start at all. I thought my battery may be dead so i hooked it up to a trickle charger for a couple hours. Tried to start it up and no change. Just click click click. They decided to try jumping it with a jumper stand not jumper cables. Did this and it started first try with no failed clicks. let it run for a while hoping maybe it would charge the battery (still thinking it was a battery issue). Then shut it off after letting it run and tried to start it right back up and click. Would not start. Only way i could get it to start was the jumper assembly. Went out this morning after it sat all night not hooked up to anything and turned the key and it started immediately.
. It has been in a heated dry garage for the past three months. Before july of this year when i bought it it had been sitting outside for about i year i believe. Helppppppppp!!!! Thanks guys.

do you get any codes on your display? I could bet (and get good odds) that its your starter relay, that or corroded electrical wiring somewere

No codes or anything. I think it may be some type of corrosion whether is the wiring or a connection. I have read alot about the starter relay issues on here but the relay problems seem to be more related to weather like cold or moisture. My question is how would the jumper assembly which is putting out much more juice be able to start it up every time when the regular battery has issues. That why i think its some type of bad connection or corrosion because the mass amount of energy from the battery is able to force its way throught the smaller voltage issue.

were are you jumping from and to? the starter relay can have corrosion in it also thus only being able to work in random situations.

Sorry about the confusion with the from and to. I only meant power from the jumper assembly to the sled. Not vice versa. So i should just pull some connections and try to clean them up a bit and see if that helps?

here is how to test your starter relay, if your getting the "click" when trying to start leave the key in the on position take a screwdriver and bridge the two connections from your starter relay, if it starts right away your relay is bad if not you have different problems on your hands

Awesome. Thanks for the advice. I will try that and let you know what happens. I may not be home for a a week or two.
Also if it's the relay, holding the key in the start position for a few seconds then retry. Sure sign of relay moisture/corrosion.

When my relay went, it would start on a warm day (-5 C and warmer), by just continuing to turn the key and clicking it, it would eventually arc and turnover. If it was colder, had to get out the hairdryer and warm it up.
Basically If it has moisture in it somewhere, its toast.
Like the idea about the screwdriver.
