I have an 06 Apex GT with a 136" track on it. I am thinking about the Yamacharger. I see what it does compared to a stock, or clutched apex. The question is how much faster is it compared to a sled that already had the following mod's on it. Would it be worth removing some of these and adding the Yamacharger?
List to date:

Ram air
header pipes, and silencers
Hauck fuel accelerator
Ulmers clutching

So if I have a Yamacharger with a powercommander, have Ulmer adjust the clutch, and leave the pipes, and exhaust is there a big enough gain to make the change in your guys opinion? Thanks for the help as usual guys. Got to love talking sleds in August...

For the HP numbers you would be about the same. For the 2000 bucks you could cut a lot of fat off the sled and be even faster. From what I have read its not a big difference from what you. I know a normal SC sled I a lot faster, I have my 08 apex Mtx SC.

Ya already took 30lbs of the sled and 10 off me now im debating on going back to a 121 track.

If you go with a 121 you lose a lot of hookup that you will have to make up with studs. Studs are slower.

So you'd lose the Ram air mod b/c no airbox anymore. And Hauck fuel accelerator would be replaced w/ pciii, and add a Yamacharger on top. All other mods (headers, exhaust, etc) remain.

My humble guess is a net gain of 15 or so hp via a loss of 5 hp with losing Ram air, but a 20 hp gain with Yamacharger.

Go for the swap and let us know what actual gains are!

I run 240 hp SC with 144 studs in a 121 cobra track ZX2 rear suspension and I have never lost a drag race because of hook up.

Same sled will nip at 160 mph on the dream meter over a lake.

Just saying for those long track dudes, vs stud dudes.

As far as the question I think the yam charger is going net you better gains then what you got.

Not a bad start with your current mods. What exhaust you running? Noticed in your sig that you didnt mention studs, if you have a hauck exhaust, you will most likely have clearance issues with the center muffler and the studs. Hauck commander, not a big fan anyways....

As for the ram air, 5hp is definately over rating the intake. An ulmer modded intake for example will only net you maybe 2-3 in some regions on the power curve. Due to the CVT drivetrain/track being so inefficient, these modest gains will likely never been seen. So loosing the intake is no big deal, plus it keeps the rain out when spring riding.

With all that said, it is likely that you will gain more from a yamcharger than with your current mods.

Also, thank you for talking about sleds in summer!

Not too sure about the yamcharger, read too many people not seeing much of a gain vs people seeing a real gain. I would not go with a 121 vs the 136. Around here people have been trying to get the 121" seld to run with the 136" sleds since they came out and the 136 has always been quicker and faster. I think for the money, I would get a hold of Hurricane Performance and look into head porting and dyno time. I'm sure he could net you easily a real 20h.p.

Yes I run studs, and I do have the Hauck headers and low db silencers on this sled. I agree it will make more, but will it make $2000 more then what it has. I don't want to go crazy like I did on the NYtro, but a tad bit more with less weight always helps lol

Yamacharger is the one last hp mod I may do someday to the Attak, would be nice and would add some nice hp. My Attak is like yours I bet; we're kind of at the end of the road of budget mods.... :-(

BINGO! When you go to that next step one thing leads to another. HP=$, and sometimes :o| then more $$ LOL

I had your mod's with a timing key and with out the exhaust. I dynoed the mod's and i will tell you they do work but the HP number's do not add up as some will tell you. You will see very nice gain's with the charger and it has been proven on many reputable dyno's but like anything else it need's to be put to the ground. More power with out more hook up and proper clutching and you are not much faster and in some cases maybe slower. My Attak with just over 200 stud's and a few of my own trick's ran very strong and wone me a couple trophy's. Also a special thanks to Simon's CPR as Jeff had the biggest hand in it and also Ulmer racing. From what I am hearing the 2011 and newer sled's will need a PC-V for proper fueling or the deto censor will pull timing and you will see no gain's.
