Where does Yamaha call their sled a game changer?

I'd be willing to be say there is some misdirection going on here too. The goods underneath might be legit, but the plastic, color, and other goodies I'm willing to bet are gonna be different....vastly different. If they aren't, might be standing next to Dirk on this one.
If Yamaha wants to know what consumers want, join TY, and read our words. You can't do everything people want, but when editors of various mags are printing the same complaints like seen on this forum, that's a direction worth looking to improve.
My Yamaha's have been good to me, but reading thread after thread I like to think I'm more aware of issues these toys have or could have.

I like my Nytro, Don't love it. I can tell you This sled will not replace the Nytro and if Yamaha doesn't build something close to what I described in the next few years I'm jumping ship. I've owned 12 Yamaha's since 1998. I'm loyal to Yamaha. This is the first time in 12 years I've thought about jumping ship!!!![/quote]
This sled was not designed to replace the Nytro, it's meant to replace the Apex, the High Performance Trail Crowd.
Seems like you need a Nytro with EPS and More HP.

You're not coming across that way to me. You sound passionate and I highly respect that. I'm just trying to convey my glass-is-half-full way of thinking!
I personally like a company that thinks outside the box but does not compromise their engineering and have been a fan since not only my exciter but my BW200(remember those?)
Unfortunately the weight of the Apex is an issue for some, not for me.

I know we haven't gotten the final specs on the new Yamaha yet. Unless this version of the Apex is 50 pounds lighter and makes 165 plus HP it's not a game changer. I love Yamaha but this is yet another chapter in a long list of disappointments for me with Yamaha.
Here is my idea of a game changer
1. Dry weight 500 pounds
2. Weight weight 575
3. 165 HP
4. Power Steering With a C&A razor type ski with 10 inches of carbide.
5. New Chassis
6. New Rear suspension that works like a mono in studder pumps and
and Nytro RTX SE in the moguls
7. New front end that has Zero Ski lift and corners like it's on rails but still eats the bumps Nytro RTX SE in the moguls
8. High out magneto that allows hand warms to work at all times and keep yoru hands warm at any temp.
9. True closed loop fuel Injection.
If I was to build a sled by taking pieces from the four OEMs the only piece I'd use from Yamaha is Power Steering. In my book that's pretty sad considering the "game changer" Promotion!!!!!!!
1,2. It may have lost a little weight but with EPS you really don't feel it
3. I really don't care about HP, I care about Torque. If this thing has 160-165 it will be faster on glare ice where HP matters to overcome Wind Resistance past 110 mph, but no faster in powder on lakes as it won't have any more torque as it will still be a 1,000 Naturally aspirated 4 stroke.
4. It has EPS, and the Skiss and carbides on it were matched very well to the unstudded track. Yamaha is not going to set it up assuming your going to stud it as a lot of silly people still don't
5. For the intended market what would you change? The new seat really helps, moves you 2" higher and 2" farther forward, perfect spot, not too far forward.
6. New Rear Suspension is excellent, I'm 270 and on soft it was very plush and hard would stand up to anything short of big jumps, the valving may change but I liked it and I ride very aggressively ( I pass REV's on the Venture I use to tow the Kids when I feel like riding something different than an Nytro or an Attak)
7. New front corners very flat, with Floats on the front you won't bottom it.
8. New warmers worked great.

Any hints about a longer track? Sounds like a 144 will be perfect for me, and saves me from extending my Attak.

I would be stunned if they didn't have one. No hints at all though.
With EPS I would prefer a 144 Mono without tipped up rails, I would want the better brakeing and acceleration, as the skid overall would exert more pressure.

Well that is a dumb thing to call it. I don't know what the official specs are but if it does have power steering, so what? That doesn't make for a "game changing" sled in my mind. Polaris labeled their Rush as a "gamer changer" and I've yet to see it have the same impact as the original TX-L Indy or the Rev. Those were game changing sleds.
Power steering isn't an option I'm interested in. I'd rather see a new Nytro. It will be interesting to learn about the refinements they've made to this sled. I wonder how they got 2" more rider forward since the steering post was already almost vertical? I hope it wasn't with even more linkages.

The Handlebar is in the same spot, the seat just seems to put you naturally closer to them and about 2" higher.
Waaaa Waaa Waaaa Yamaha is probablly being very smart..It costs alot of money for R@D expecially at a time that most of us can't afford a new sled anyways..Everyone wants more horse power so they can go as fast as they can on groomed trails so they can't handle the corner coming up and kill them selves or someone else..
Why would Yamaha just make a sled for a few guys so they can sit on a lake and see who is the fastest, if that's your thing then put a turbo on it..Most people are looking for dependible, efficent, good handling sleds...Most people don't know what Yamaha has coming out and they are bitching...

I would like to see Dirk's list be fulfilled or even met half way. Yamaha has fallen behind and needs to step up to the plate to compete. The 4 stroke marketing strategy is getting old and it's time to lighten these sleds up and improve the ride as well as handling! Oh, and did I mention - fire whoever comes up with shock calibrations? If Doo comes out with 800 E-tec it's going to be an easy choice..

I bought my last two new Yami's knowing the sleds were not going to meet my expectations . The reason, trying like hell to stay loyal! Im not a loyalist that thinks Yamaha is the Best and Only Thing worth owning, but Ive always been a fan. Thats getting tougher to justify.
Shock calibrations and rear skids in gereral, have been horrible compared to the other brands. We are buying these sleds only to have to spend 14-1500 dollars at Hygear to get a "reasonable" range of capability.
While other brands, have great out of the box suspensions.Sorry, but my wore out 00 Cat skid in my viper rides better then my XTX skid, Guys, thats sad!

No sled will ever be everything to everybody. The Apex was due for an update. That's who gets a new sled this year. Last year it was the boon dockers and mountain guys. The year before that was the ditch bangers. Every year it amazes me how many people get their undies wadded up when Yamaha doesn't introduce a helium infused, unobtainium re-enforced, nuclear powered super sled.
