Hey guys I just got myself a really nice used 2006 apex GT last June ( upgraded from the RX1) anyway im one of those anal OCD guys that likes to look maintain my stuff. I've been reading lot about guys greasing their bearings every year. What kind of grease is recommended and I understand that wd40 is better to use to clean.. and also do I need a special grease gun? Thanks guys. If you have any more advice as far as maintenance/ tips and tricks .. would be much appreciated! Still no snow here in Manitoba. It's getting depressing

A fellow TY member turned me onto this Mobile grease for repacking the bearings.
As for a special grease gun, you just need to get yourself one of these needle grease tips to get in between the bearings and race when repacking.
When it comes to prying off the oil seal I use a needle point probe to get up under the seal and then use something like a pocket regular head screwdriver to lift off the seal.

Here's a link found in frequency asked questions. We all have been there. It took me awhile the first time just like the oil change did.

Only pack HALF of the bearing, when you do it all around it will just blow it out once you hit high speed. I do half then rotate it on the stand. Easy job and will make the bearings lifetime useable.

i have multiple grease guns so i have one set up with a needle greaser for doing bearings that is a pistol grip type. i use brake cleaner to clean them out and right now using a green esso grease that i still have over 1/2 a case of from my grandfathers garage. works well in the bearings.
