5500+ fairly hard trail miles, and I'm on my 2nd belt. I replaced it at 4500 miles, so I'm sure this one has plenty of life left in it. I'm all for the Yamaha belts!!!

How often are you guys changing the OEM's? I have been changing between 1500 and 2K since my first sled. I have never blown one. But I have seen some blow and damn they can do some damage. Thus why I start getting leary around 2K.

I already posted my mileage, but just for record, my particular belt wasn't completely blown. I just checked it while stopped for gas, and saw that a couple strands were beginning to unravel, so I changed it. And I'm a big guy, nearly 300 lbs. with riding gear, and ride it pretty hard. I'm extremely impressed with the belt life. After that I wouldn't even think about buying any other belt. Not that others aren't good, but with a track record like this, I refuse to chance it.

I have used the 8DN belt for years on a variety of sleds. I have always been impressed with how they wear like iron. I usually take the belt off and put a bullet headed wire wheel in my Dewalt drill and knock the sheen off the belt before each ride. After this they really seem to hook up well.
I had always wanted to try the Ultimax III belt so I bought one and tried for most of a season. I really didn't notice much better hook up or shifting with this stickier belt. The biggest thing I noticed was the huge increase in belt dust. There was dust everywhere. With 8DN belts I saw virtually no belt dust. The next most note worthy thing was how quickly the belt wore down. They wear much quicker than the 8DN belts and for that reason they didn't seem to come up to the top of the sheaves like belts do when they are new. So essentially unless you adjust your secondary appropriately you don't really get back to first gear like you do with a new belt when you stop.
After trying them both, I am back with Yamaha belts for price, durability and cleanliness reasons.
