I found out that my sleds suspension hadn't been lubed from the dealer when I was putting on my studs. Called dealership and they made arrangements to pick up my sled and do a complete reset-up of sled. While they were looking it over they found that I needed new hyfax anf that my inner boggie wheels were warped from the picks in my track. I asked why I needed these things done to my sled as I only had 298 miles on it . They replied it was due to my weight I'm about 290lbs with all my gear and bad snow conditions. I rode sled once down here in Wisconsin 8 inches frsh snow 80 miles the rest was up in the UP great conditions. Now my question is I have a bill for 280.00$$ I would like to here your theory's on how this happened to my sled and who is at fault. And what are my options? I figured that this was the place for some ideas on how to handle this.

Sliders are wear items. The picks you put in are after market items. Usually that means no warranty. I'd take the fall if I were you.
If you buy 10 sleds a year there, the dealer might do it on goodwill.

Prairie dog cool avatar!!!!!!!!1 But what is she doing and why doesnt she get tired? lol.
Sifty they might be right about the bogeys but the slider wear sounds abnormal to me, maybe a set up issue. Im guessing if they didnt take the time to lube the skid then they probably didnt adjust the tension on your track.

Use your judgement. The wheels may have worn some, but worn out? Sliders, maybe they are just starting to wear, how about that track tension? Didn't grease it, what year is it? Vetesnick Motors?

I guess my thought is that if you have slides wear out and you have inner bogie wheels warp in 298 miles that track was not properly set-up from the dealer. I paid 350.00 set-up on the sled. If it's a wear item I take it it wasn't designed to wear out that quick- that means it must be dealer issue and they should stand behind it.

Yea vetisniks is the dealer. Inner wheels were warped looked like somebody took a torch to them. Totally out of round. Bearings were still good.

I say that is a load of crap....the dealer is trying to cover their costs of having to do their job right the SECOND time. I would raise a stink unless your stuck with that dealer for the long haul.
I sled with guys your size and you only have me by about 50, that should not have that big of effect.

My new Warrior and my buddies new Venom both had no grease in the rear skid. The only things that were grease were the ski spindles and transfer rods. I noticed mine before I put on any miles, my buddy put 25 miles before I was able to tell him to check his.
We both also had straight ethylene glycol as coolant instead of 60/40.
Good thing we paid the dealer for setup ...!!!

Note that there has been some issues with those plastic wheels and deformity.
Mine are warped a little also. With just over 2200 miles on now it hasn't caused any problems.

I am sure Yamaha customer service alreeady knows about this....they are watching this site very closely. I think that they should see about back charging the dealer for all the bad publicity he is creating. Who knows this may have caused someone who was on the fence to go to another brand.

Not to disrespect your dealer sifty but hyfax does tend to wear very quickly in the first 300 miles then seems to hardly wear much for the rest of its life. http://www.rx1.info/viewtopic.php?t=10543&start=15 It would be interesting to know exactly how much wear was left in those sliders.
I know I used to change mine out way too early just because they made me nervous. Your dealer might have done the same just to avoid potential slide rail damage if you did happen to ride in more low snow conditions. (Not defending, just trying to look at all sides.)
The warped inner wheels seem to be a common issue with studded machines. In the "good old days" with rubber tread idler wheels the studs would simply chew the rubber off the wheels. Sounds like they're warping the whole wheel now.
I'm kind of glad I got lazy and didn't take the time to stud mine for the first time in 10 years. Anybody want to make an offer on 108 brand new Fast-Trac 1.375 Top Gun II's with black Air-Lite XL backers?

The failure to ensure that the suspension was fully lubed on a sled that a customer paid for setup on is absolutely ridiculous. Is this an omission by factory, the setup publication, or negligence on the part of the dealer? I have not read the 2005 setup publications yet, so I cannot answer that question.

I just got off the phone with my dealer he is going to try to get my wheels covered on my sled. He will not cover hyfax wear. My hyfax went down to 13mm in 50 miles of riding and then were down to 11mm buy the time it got to 298 miles. So I had them replaced. Is charging an hours labor for changing hyfax seem fair. Note they had to drop suspension for the inner wheels replacement so getting access to hyfax should have been easy. I have signs of warpage of my outside wheels also and there ordering them for me too. So it sounds like this issue isn't going away. I'm taking the sled up to the UP this weekend so I will update everyone on how the wear issue goes now that they have adjusted the track.

Any time I replace wheels, I replace them with aluminum unbendable wheels.
