Yamaha ice scratchers on a 121" skid?

Thinking about adding the Yamaha rail type scratchers to my 08 Vector but I have been told due to the length of my skid, I won't reap much benefit out of them as the scratch is to far near the rear of the skid?

Curious what others do or have with their 121's?

Can these be modded to shorten them up, has anyone made their own or used something different?

Put them on your skis. Just get a longer blot for your ski and run them on the inside of the ski. I have a pic of how I did it in the link blow.

Irv, check out Hartmans site, he has a set of ice scratchers that are already made for the skis, that's the route I'm going this season. Ski mounted makes more sense as it kicks the snow right at the front of the skid instead of the middle.

The ski one's are the best out there.The bend on the rails is where the most heat is produced and most pressure.So the snow will hit them first.

When you put out a fire you attack the center of it it's the same concept.

I just received an e-mail for Ragdoll (previous owner) who said the sliders I just replaced were the stockers,,, he put 2100 miles on them so I am not 100% certain I will need them?

Maybe the Vectors are a little easier on slides compared to the Apex's, can't see how but 2100 miles on a set sounds pretty good to me, especially considering last years snow fall.

Second pic is my Attak with scratchers mounted under your feet. You can see them. Very easy to put them down or up. Don't need to get off the sled. People behind me say they spray a lot of snow. You can see it in the skid. But on a 1000 Quebec trip, my sliders wore thru on the bend in the rail. About an inch. I also didn't have them down the entire time.

1st pic is a 2010 Vector. No snow in the skid the entire time. His sliders wore thru in about the middle of the skid. About an inch. The entire length of sliders were paper thin. I would say maybe 1mm came off the rails on both sleds.

If I had to do it again, I would get the ski mounted ones that spray the front.

I run these same cable scrtchers on my Attak and they work fine. This year I'm also running Simmons with the Simmons designed ski scratchers/ directors on there. Should save me lots and lots of hyfax wear!

Yamaha has this type for the front but I heard though the grapevine that a newer updated version is suppose to be coming out?

Or you could. Drill a hole put a bolt in the ski. Done that for running on the ice.

I got them on e-bay. They're called Slidekicks. There's a dealer on there, that sells them new. They also have replacable tips, that are basically a U-bolt cut in half.

I lost 2 slidekicks on my nytro this winter. I never even lowered em & even tho i loctited em in they were gone after the 2nd ride. I am gonna try the yammie a-arm mounted ones this winter.
