After years of bleeding green ,I am back on a Yamaha. I got a new 04 RX1 MTN with a 151. I am going to fab new aluminum skid mounting brackets, and tunnel extension.and rail extensions. Putting in a 162x16x2.3,2.52 pitch track. With a little work to the front cooler[grind the fin]and the top of cooler I am hoping to swing 9tooth extros, if it wont clear,Ill use 8s.If I use the 9s will I need to gear down?I once long tracked a 99 MM 700 from 136 to 141,did not use rail extensions, set back the skid 2.5''.Worked out well, and greatly improved attack angle.Should I set back the RX1 skid 2 or three ''and use short rail extenders? Or use rail extensions to get rail lenghth, and no set back? Looks like it could use a better attack angle because it is steep.Ive already removed the transfer rods and made spacers to take up the spot where they went on the upper shaft. Also want to gut air box and change exhaust. Was going to go to Holtz man red CV springs,Any reccomends on jetting? Ride in B.C. Mostly 3000to 6000 ft,sometimes up to 7000or 8000. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks

first welcome to the forums and second your a better man than me when it comes to doing it yourself. There are guys here who have gone to your track but run the 8 tooth because of clearnace problems.BUt if I`m wrong I will be corrected shortly. And if your running stock I did go to the the red springs and gutted my are box changed jetting . I also put in heavy hitters and it made a huge difference over stock. And oh ya I did go down one tooth on the top gear also.
Moving rear skid back is out of my element. But there is alot of knowledge here so someone should be able to answer you better. good luck

skid setback
I set mine back 1 1/2'' and built some 2 1/5'' extensions when I went to 159. I also added to each cooler and made a rear cooler since they like to heat up in marginal snow conditions. I'll see if I can get my pics on here for you to see how it looks, Ken.

Gimeaboost, post some more pics (judging by your sig line, your sled must ROCK).
I'd like to see where that R1 exhaust is.
BTW, your approach angle looks awesome.

Here's a better picture of my exhaust. I tried runing without the pipe and muffler but was too loud . Also I'mm gonna drop the back end to the lower hole so it gets a little more snow to cool it better. I made a nice size trunk , where the battery now sits and a rear rack with LED light . Ken

Nice. I would never have thought there would be room for a bike pipe under there. Good idea moving the battery back too. How about a pic. with the hood up.

This is what it looks like except I modified the intercooler a little for better airflow, Ken.

I'm running 8 tooth antiratchets , I think they're Wahl type. If you go to 159 from 151 you're gaining 4'' on the snow so if you move it back 1 1/2'' you need 2 1/2 ''extensions to make up the difference. Also if you set it back you need to move all your mounting points the same amount which for the front and middle bolts is no problem but probably needto modify the drop brackets or move them back the same as everything else. Ken.

Thanks,I was hoping to go 9 tooth drivers with 8'' rear idlers, and a 162,need to know how much rail extension with the 1.5'' setback.Does the set back make the sled feel more nose heavy?
