YAMAHA PREDICTIONS FOR 2013

noone seems to think that YAMAHA will do anything "big" for 2013.. they WILL produce something bigger than having more EPS models and adding the "tuner skis" for 2013

That's some down grading there for sure! I'd rather see them sell their sleds with no skis, no front shocks, no rear skid and no track so we can put what we want in these areas! A vector with a phazer motor would be a huge failure! That is by far the worst motor they sell and in a vector chassis might hit 60! Let's hope these predictions aren't true!

Lester wants Yamaha out of snowmobiles. The engine is Yamaha's strong point and Mike Lester has the gall to say downgrading the engines will help sales. He is an advertising shill and the sooner this guy is out of writing the better.

In my dreams there is the return of a four cylinder mountain sled, this time in a REAL mountain chassis (= less weight and proper skid installed already at the factory). But I will not hold my breath. Next couple of years will probably be all about EPS in one more model at the time, new but not necessarily good skis in one more model at the time, and maybe - just maybe and only if they are really, really brave - little bit of BNG...!

If yamaha comes out with a vector with a phazer engine they are doing the opposite of what everyone wants! which is more like a vector engine in a phazer chassie, with some lighter parts and stuff ofc.

Heard rumours about focusing into one chassis with different motors few years ago. Factory tests were planned to be fall 2010 at Northern Sweden! But didn´t happen, economical reasons.
Personally don´t care about skis, those are easily replaced but something lighter with proper suspension (shocks) would be nice!

there is currently a patent that yamaha has out for a chassis that is not in production yet.. at least i hope they would not apply for a patent in 2011 on a chassis they already had out..

All we are going to see is smoke and mirrors...bold new graphics...Yamaha needs to revamp there lineup....Lighten the sleds up...Make a new beginner sled. Drop the Phazer (ugly, sorry phazer owners)....Head into the Mountain market with a light sled..Something that can compete with the backcountry, Freestyle, Assult, HCR....

I think they should ditch the phazer and nytro. From my experience selling used parts, there are far more apex/vector sleds out there than phazers and nytros. I've parted 4 phazers and the phazer parts don't sell near as fast as an apex or vector.

From an economic standpoint yamaha needs to build what sells. The weight hinders the market targeted by the nytro and phazer so they should just drop them and focus on trail sleds.

In order to be diverse though I feel Yamaha should make a stronger showing in the mountains. There is almost always a season in the mountains and it starts earlier and lasts longer. When areas like the northeast are hurting for snow Yamaha could at least be selling sleds in the mt area's if they had something worthwhile.

when you compare the weight of the phazer and nytro to other comparable sleds (other 4-strokes of course) the weight of the YAMAHA sleds is very close..

is there anyone on here that have swapped an apex motor into a nytro chassis? i know alot of mountain guys are doing the swap. curious to see a wet weight before and after the engine swap..

weight before and after the engine swap..

I heard 8Lb. There is no benefit to the three cylinder over the four cylinder in any respect of power, durability, weight, or any other aspect and all production should go to variations of the four cylinder.

the original reason yamaha went too the nytro engine was to comply too the rules in SNO-X.. that idea fell apart 2 years ago. the engine lineup is solid to say the least for yamaha. they NEED to cut down the number of chassis and variation of parts though..

I talked to a guy that said he put both the old fan cooled phazer engine and the new 4-stroke phazer engine on a scale and the difference was about 7 lb. If thats true it shows that the chassi of the new phazer is to heavy. I mean the phazer is about 40lb ligther than my nytro xtx and that is just sick. The phazer should be around 60-80 lb ligther than what it is today.
