I'm in need of some ideas for protection of my rear cooler. As you can see from the pics, the cooler sits about 2 inches down from the tunnel extension. Should I replace the cooler further back and just mount it to the bottom of the extension? I'm so frustrated that I may just out the stock cross over tube back, run my studs and not worry about it. I have the 136 Expert X with a 1.25 rip saw and a hartman 144 tunnel ext.

That does not look right to me. I would think that it would sit right against the tunnel.

Right. I placed the cooler in the stock rivet holes where it should be mounted. This cooler is a Yamaha cooler for an Attack. The stock extension is fiuther doen, so it would have mounted right to it. My ext. is an aftermarket deal. I'm thinking I may need to modify the tubes and mount tight to the bottom of the extension and as far back as I can get it.

I think modifying the coolant tubes to allow it to mount back and flush to the tunel extension is the best/cleanest way to handle that, if I follow what's going on there.
Is the tunnel ext a kit up design?
I was told that Hartman has a cooler install kit I think.

Hartman does have a cooler kit, you can build yourself, I've got the directions on how to do it He sent them to me when I added the ext on my nytro, I have them laying around here somewhere, I never built one since it wasn't really needed on the nytro (yet)

You can run the cooler like that, no problems as long as its attached at the back, otherwise, you can do some modifications like I did on mine...
My modifications;
1) take the existing coolant tubes and cut them off FLUSH against the cooler.
2) Cut holes in the SIDES of the cooler, and SHORTEN the existing coolant tubes. The end result is that when you weld them onto the new holes, the ends will be oriented the same with respect to each other as stock - the tubes will have to angle up from the cooler *very slightly*.
3) Weld the coolant tubes back onto the cooler, and weld covers over the old holes.
4) CUT OFF the flat thing that a shorty snowflap rivets onto. A small angle grinder would be a good tool for this.
It should now mount onto the tunnel extension FLUSH and still connect through the stock holes.

cooler
by sucreing it to the extion at the back and runing it like that you just about double the cooling surface by allowing snow to get on the top of your cooler. as long as you have the clerance to do so. artic cat is mounting the coolers in some of there sleds this way now for that same reson.
