needed a set of lower a arms for my 2009 nytro xtx. i fell over when told $438 canadian each. OUCH! got mad for awhile and then calmed down . hey if you need them you need them. i have a pretty good dealer and he offered a reduced price. just for the hell of it i went on line and used the canadian part no to have a peek at US dealers. $259. retail. LOL. i started to roll on the floor. same part no on the bag coming from the same jap factory , distance between the can and us dealer is 130 miles.
MUST BE THE EXCHANGE RATE? oh ya its only 3 cents on the dollar. must be the shiping? must be at least $100 extra to ship. maybe its the dutuies. NOT. talk about sticking it to you canadian customers and the great dealers we have here. canadian dealers cost is more than the retail in the states.
guess we are too stupid to figure out what yamaha is doing to us. ahhhhh duhhhhhh.

THANKS AGAIN YAMAHA CANADA

Get used to it and it is a thorn in my side the way they treat us like were still in the 80's and 90's and our dollar was only 70 cents on the dollar. They got used to charging us higher and habits like that are hard to break. Dont buy it from Yamaha Canada period. Did you check out Royal Distributing they sell A arms? My next sled will come from the USA. I dont give a toot about the warranty if its major I will take it to a US dealer to get fixed if I have too.

Yep...
I've been buying parts from the USA for years now.
Takes longer to get them and planning required but worth it.
I only buy parts from Canada dealers in emergency.

I hope that Yamaha Canada and someone in Japan reads this site more often. The more we talk about going to the USA...
Maybe the CAN dealers should start a revolt too.
Canadian dollar has been way strong for way long now.
Silly incentives don't cut it anymore.
We vote with our $$.

NOT DIRECTED AT CANADIAN DEALERS

this is in no way directed at canadian dealers. i have a great dealer and try on most occasions to buy what ever i can from him, BUT when on 2 items the price is so great?

It's the buying power. Yamaha of the United states is selling 330 million people. Yamaha of Canada is selling to 36 million. Yamaha of the US most likely out sells Yamaha of Canada by a wide margin.

It's a huge difference.

nothing to do with buying power. sorry. thats a story they feed you. many large manufactures sell in canada and the states. thats an excuse they would like us to believe. its greed on the manufacures part. the auto industry was that way. now vehicles in many cases are less expesive in canada and we certainly dont sell the numbers that the states do. i was only till the public made a big enough noise and for long enough that then things chaged.

the only other thing I can think of is Canada charges Yamaha more money to import things into Canada then the States does.

i appreciate the thought and have looked. i ended up buying new . its just my view on how consumers are treated.

This is why my 2 sleds came from the states.... A good example... Ski doo sleds are made in quebec... but you can go accross the border and buy them on average 2-3g less... and they are made right here in my neighboring province??? when i was buying my RTX my "local dealer" had them on for just under 13G... i ended up paying $8500(plus border fees)... i was still ahead over 4 grand... i love supporting my local guys but...really.... not that much!

Anyone in Europe able to comment on the price for this item? I wonder what it costs in Alaska? There is no amount of taxes, duty, or shipping that can account for a price difference that big when you compare it to other things that are imported and sold in both countries.

Warranty? What the hell is that?

Definitely always shop around, especially if you are not in a rush.

Recently, I had been looking at getting a set of Yamaha mirrors for my Nytro. Up here, they retail for $140 + taxes equally over $150...ridiculous, and they just don't offer sales on parts and accessories, especially if it's a special order, which of course pretty much everything here is.

Well, after much searching around, I found a great price for the same part for considerably less in the States. Of course, I had to consider shipping, an issue when shipping across the border, plus there is the brokerage fees (stay away from UPS), exchange rate, plus all the taxes.

The final price? $54. That's it. Shipped to my door in less than 2 weeks, duties, exchange, taxes all included...$54 total.

Wake up Yamaha Canada.

Don't know the exact price for these parts in Europe but in general we are treated the same way as you Canadians. Prices here are ATLEAST twice the amount of what the guys in the states pay. I also like to support my local dealers but not at unreasonable cost. I order almost all my parts from the states now and even though shipping is quite expensive and I have to pay duty fees, it´s still way worth it. An example:

Yamaha turning fork billet wheels (SMA-BILWH-TF-LG). Price in the US is about $74 a piece. In Sweden with the current exchange rate.... $200!! :o|
