Correct me if Im wrong, but I believe that Yamaha's modular is made by Lazer. They recently switched to HJC for their standard fullface helmet maker, so perhaps the modulars are different now too.
I looked into getting a Yamaha modular a couple of years ago and while the helmet's concept is interesting, the fact that it only has a DOT (no Snell rating) safety rating, I passed on it.

IMO, the BV2S helmet by ski-doo/bombardier is the best one out there by far. I've got about 1000 miles riding on mine, and i've never had an issue with fogging yet. I tried the new sno-force and liked the BV2S better.

The BV2S is a high priced helmet but as the old saying goes, " you get what you pay for. I had the ski-doo modular helmet and loved it. I recently purchaced three BV2S helmets and love it! (One for wife, son and self). My communicators had to be sent into Collect for the microphone mod but it is going to be worth the wait. If you want to know where I got the best deal on the net you can pm me.

I think the Yammie modular is an HJC Symax (sp?). The Symax leaks like a sieve but in an annoying / cold manner & the shield fogs. Check it out in detail before you buy. I've had great luck w/the non-modular HJC CL12's & CL14's.

I have been using ther new Yammi modular all season. Love it. I put the heated shield on before evn using it, so can't comment on its performance without it. Lots of vents, and accepts comminicators well. At $285.00 plus electric shield not a cheapie.
