Hi Guys,
What are you running for engine oil in your sled? I was told that you can run castrol or other oils and save big money. Yamalube is 9.00 a quart now! Tell me what you use :yam:

Thanks LazyBastard, I am thinking the same. how many miles to you run using this oil? I am thinking about a 1000 or so.

oops..... I meant how many miles between oil changes..

I usually top out at 2100 or so. This year I am just under 1500. Not bad for the limited snow in Maine. One more quick question..... do you dump the oil into oil tank only or do you dump some into the engine as well as the oil tank?

When to change

One more question guys. Is it better to change it in the spring before storage or in the fall after you bring it out?

Thanks.

One thing to take into consideration is that the oil will loose it's "cling" to the internal parts after a couple months, so starting the engine every 6 wks. - 2 mos. is a good idea so that come fall\winter you don't fire up a "dry" engine.

I've heard that synthetic "clings" longer, but I woudn't take the chance. ;)!

so it's best to change oil and filter in spring when done riding for the season? and the chaincase too?

Refer to the manual for the oil change cycles, you can't go wrong.

What are you guys running for chaincase oil? I had the dealer change it @ 300 miles when I had the oil changed. I'm planning on changing the oil and chaincase again at the end of the riding season myself and would like to run a synthetic in the case. What kind and how much? Thanks Doug
