Ive read alot of forums on this ,,,and from what ive seen amsoil seems to be the oil id like to go with,, just one thing id like to know,, when you guys say amsoil,,mobil,or castrol, etc , you do mean these oils have to be FOR 4 stroke thats right isnt it? and not just regular engine oil ,
Your asking if it has to be for power sport application(quad, bike, ect ect), and not just car oil. I would say no, yamalubes own 0w30 doesn't even indicate that it meets JASO MA, and only meets api sj. Personally I would never run amsoil in anything, or aftermarket filters either(especially high flow).
You would ideally run an early than sm rated oil that isn't energy conserving rated(like sl, sj). You wouldn't want a CL-4 diesel motor oil either.
Edit, Just was browsing at the local wal mart and found some castrol 0w30 that looks to be suitable. I would probably run mobile one If I could find it in 0w40 or 0w30... Will give this a shot this year.

Any particular reason why you would never use Amsoil?? I been using it forever, in everything I own... have you ever went to their website and checked out their lab tests comparing to other oils?? You don't ever see any other oil manufacture comparing their oils to Amsoil... Wonder why...
I swear by it... always have, and always will..

Am-soil vtwin oil resulted in excessive camshaft wear in a buddys klr. Even canadian tire MC oil in my klr never had a problem.
54'000km and one trip to baja and back(9000kmround trip) on my 08klr.
I lump amsoil into the same bucket that k&n+HD is in... Outstanding marketing.... and thats it!

Thanks for your opinion.. and also thank you for your honesty!
A lot of us (myself included) have a tenancy to do just that. I'll NEVER own another Polaris because of a HORRIBLE experience with my Edge last winter, so yeah... i know where your coming from. HAY, who knows, maybe using Amsoil (Synthetic 2-Stroke) in it had something to do with all my engine troubles. Never ever did find an absolute reason as to why it kept blowing up!! Just sold it as is (with blown motor) after blowing 3 times within 100miles! I'll never know the cause. lol
Can't wait to get the new (to me) 4 stroke out the garage and on the snow!
What is HD??
Oh yeah... I'm running a K&N filter (drop in) in my car, and one of them funky lookin K&N filter systems is on the 05' Warrior i bought as well.. LOl how ironic is that

HD, Harley Davidson. Slow, low reliability and powerless yet the largest share of cruiser market.

Well... To be honest... nobody will EVER know... if you'd like to, when you have a whole bunch of time on your hands check out this thread.

In the end, I sold it, and the new owners intentions was to put an AC motor in it, and set it up for drag racing. I was talking to his son about 3 months ago, and it was still sitting outside almost hidden from the grass growing around it.

Not everyone wants one, I wouldn't own one if it was given to me.
