To be more clear the actual blinking engine symbol.
Not the gas, oil or temp symbols.
Never had this one before.

Dont think so. How do you tell?
If anything it was flashing 84 and 42 going between speedometer and tach when I just had the battery on. While flashing the yellow light

Codes 84 is the TORS and 42 is the speed sensor.

So apparently it is telling me a code. Or two.
Speed sensor makes sense as the bolt and cog fell off and were laying in the belly pan.
Whats up with the Throttle OverRide System? What can go wrong with that?

When there is a problem that trips a code it will flash intermittently with the engine light. You can find these codes in the FAQ to help narrow down the problem.
The TORS can be related to a faulty speed sensor.

Send me a PM with your email, I can get you a service manual. You can download an owners manual for your sled here:

Thanks yamahas.
However I have the service manual and I cant find in it where it talks about diagnosing the meanings of the yellow light and it's symbols. I know the oil, temp, gas ones but the engine one i haven't dealt with yet.
I can't find my owners manual which i'm pretty sure outlines the yellow blinking light engine symbol detail I am confused about.
As far as the owners manual download from the yamaha website, somehow it doesn't work for me as when I put in the year and model and it goes to show me the manual it just comes up with a grey blank page. A few times now.
Also I looked in the FAQ's and coiuldn't find anything about the error codes there only seemed to be information relating to posting things on the website.
Thanks though,
I'm still trying to find my owners manual so if anybody has a manual and can tell what it says, verbatim would be great, about the yellow blinking light engine symbol I would appreciate it.

Regarding Yamaha's website and the manual download, maybe try a different browser. I just tried downloading it on my Ipad and it worked for me.

The light is blinking to alert you of the codes.
...Or am I missing something you are asking?

The yellow blinking light is a universal warning light. then you have to look at the symbol in the lower half of the digital display for the indication of whats wrong whether it be oil pressure temp or egine In most cases a code will flash in the display that will tell you where the problem lies.
Please see the following for the most commen error codes

84 42 code is your speed censor, which will go off if bearing is pooched on speedo side. if you rev your engine up with no belt on, that will also trigger an 84-42 code till you put belt back on.

Killer. That was the info I was looking for.
So just to recap, when the yellow light flashes the computer is telling an error code. Mine were 84 and 42. TORS and the speed sensor. Got it.
One more question: is the speed sensor bolt supposed to loc tited?
Thanks guys I really appreciate the help
