FYI - Cold Weather Testing:
Hit -40 Degrees on the weekend. Had the sled plugged in for an hour and it fired up! Rode for a few hours at that temperature with no problems except for being dressed up like the staypuft marshmallow man.
Another FYI - Yamaha is saying that people running 91 Octane will be able to start their phazers at colder temps vs. those running lower octanes. I've only ran 87 since day one, but will test out their suggestion.

LOOSE STEERING UPDATE:
Many may already know of a service bulletin from Yamaha about the ball joints for the steering columns. The bolts are backing off resulting in loose steering. Mine was becoming very loose. The fix is removing it completely and reinstalling with loctite. They just did this to mine under warranty, and they are also looking for that blasted coolant leak. Someone was asking where the coolant circ. was installed on my engine, I was told that it is on the side of the motor/at the bottom of the motor. One of these days when I have it in my garage apart, I'll take pics of the location.

I was just told that they are backordered (12V plugs) until end of February.

That was me asking about the circ heater location. It has been warmer this week so I haven't really needed it but after about thirty below C I think it would be a lot easier on the starter and motor. It would be nice if you can get a pic as it sounds like yours is working pretty good. TopperYellowknife said:LOOSE STEERING UPDATE:

Speed Update:
The Speedo on my Yammi is out 6% according to several GPS tests.
How does that stack up to the others out there? I thought it would be worse actually.

Is that 6% in comparing mph or kph? I've heard the kph is the more accurate of the 2.

So YK; how is your machine holding up? I am sure that you have lots more kilometres on it already...
The multi-purpose may not have been ordered by our dealer, so I will see which models are in. I think there was a GT, FX and Longtrack, not sure which model though.
If not, then I will order a new model this year. Thanks.

I've got 2700 km's (1688mi) on it so far and loving it but have a coolant leak that is being a minor pain.

Environment Canada is calling for cooler temps in March/April/May. I remember 2 years ago I rode until May 28. Longest year ever, started Oct. 16.

Our 2 Phazers running 91 both started the other day at -28* C read from the digital thermometer in our chevy pickup. Both sat ourside over nigt. About 15 seconds of cranking and fired right up.

Good to know. If mine starts at -30 C with the 91 octane in it, then it will prove Yamaha to be correct with their recommendation that higher octane allows colder starting capability.

Yeah we just turn the key to let the pump purge. Turn the key back off then turn it on and crank. Fires right up. Seemed to work for us anways good luck with yours!
We do have a side issues though with our FX you will be trail riding it along and it will just shut off. Like you hit the kill switch turn the key it fires right back up. Did it twice last weekend.
