Anyone getting the YES Warranty and if not why? I have thought about it, but not sure if its worth the money.

I have been trying to get a quote on a 06 Apex GT but the site does not show any 06 models. I have never had it before but, can only assume it's worth the money on a new model ! :(

The Attak is my 3rd Yamaha. Each time I ordered a sled I attempted to get the YES program and all 3 times my dealer talked me out of it. What does that tell you when a salesman talks you out of spending money :ORC

My dealer said the same, they said It's a Yamaha, you won't need it.

Well said Mighty! It's been my experience that the dealer themselves are a HUGE part of the equation also! A dealer that will go to bat for you and help you out on some level (labor?) should you happen to have a problem is key to me....one of the reasons I don't shop dealers. Find a good one and make it a mutually beneficial relationship!

I used the warranty with a bearing (driver, clutch side). I still had 2 years on it with a 03 RX-1. My salesman said I would get it back on my trade, which I did. A little peace of mind. I've owned Yamaha's the last 4 years with no major problems. I owned cats 16 years with nothing but problems (I got to get that out of my head) you couldnt give me a cat :yam:

Don't you get a loaner sled when the warrantied sled is in the shop, when you have the YES? If you do, that's something to think about.

my dealer sent me a note with my deposit invoice
telling me he is offering the yes warranty for 4 years in addition to the std 1 year warranty for 450.00. it doesn't sound like too bad of a deal.
thats a total of 5 years of coverage.
i am giving it a lot of thought.
i have some fears about the changes they made to the new engine specifically the lightening of the crank and the fact that the engine no longer uses sleeved cylinders the cylinders are just plated.
i think i will still be deciding when i go to pick it up

i dont claim to know how yamaha pays on the warranty repairs. but i can tell you i work as a hydraulic mechanic and the business i work for does warranty repairs. i can tell you there is no money in warranty repairs for us. our shop labor rate is 75.00 per hour and the 4 companys we do warranty repairs for only pay a precentage on that hourly rate. if yamaha works it anything like that then i can see a salesman not recomending a warranty because they will make more money billing you for it than billing yamaha at a fraction of the cost.

Save your money on the warranty. If it doesn't give you any major problems the first season of riding, it won't give you any. If you have lots of problems in the first season, dump it at the end of the season if not before.

I hear where you're coming from leader, but I really believe my dealer in this case. He sells Doo, Polaris and Yamaha and as he puts it; the only time the Yamaha's come back is when people crash them.

I agree mighty
my viper seldom if ever broke down. the only problems i can ever rebember having were caused by me.
i am just a little leery about a 2.5 lb loss on the crank and the new cyl plating. new technology is awesome but there is always the chance of a problem. and i always seem to be the guy with the problem.

i never purchased an extended warranty before.
just curious if anyone knows about turbos and superchargers and warranty claims.
i am already thinking about a supercharger for next season. what do you think the dealer would have to say about any engine warranty claims with a supercharger installed.

the thing is i have the ability to fix just about anything i break. i just would prefer not to, and if you can get someone else to cover the cost thats even better.

i know i would be better to post that Question in the turbo area but it just kinda came up
any thoughts

There would have to be proof that the charger caused the engine problem. You can add anything aftermarket as you wish and get the full extent of your warranty, just as long as the item you add doesn't cause failure to the item you are looking to warranty. Furthermore, if you have enough money to spend on a charger, a warranty is probably the last thing you are concerned about if it is installed correctly.
