Same here on bone stock 2002 Viper when it was brand new. I raced a ZRT 600 from the Hoop n' Hollar to Lake Gogebic Lodge however long that is. I was walking him good and saw dream o meter speeds of 125 mph with a good tail wind. I have since never seen that lake as smooth as it was that year. Keep in mind I had the stock track on too which was a .92" lug helping attain better speeds up top.

Between Chibougameau and Lebel sur Quevillon, if anyone been there , western border quebec.. there is a old railroad... it has about 70 miles, maybe 2 or 3 10 degre angles that's it...
rode total WOT about 20 miles twice, had to stop cause it was -20 Celcius, and beleive me, at 170 km/h..it was cold... and my freind with his 600 SDI couldn't follow, and was scared to blow his motor.. .wich he did the next day...

2006 Apex RTX
did about 140 miles 7 at a time WOT. Everybody left for home one Sunday on Rangeley Lake Maine. I emptied my sled of extra's, and went "hunting" for 2-strokes. I went back & forth to gas stations filling only a gallon or so each time. I know i put on 150 miles that day & almost all of it was WOT & tucked below windshield. Since Rangeley is 7 to 10 miles, depending on route, that's 20 runs. I figured it was safer than the trails all alone if something broke, but Apex didn't miss a beat or lose a race.

On my good ole Viper, I ran from Ernie's in Missinabe, Ontario to Wawa in about 45 minutes. 3 Lakes WOT all the way - Dog Lake about 19 miles, the 3 mile portage, then Manitowak Lake (sp?) 18 miles, then 15-20 miles of trail, and then Wawa Lake 8+ miles.
My wife's Phazer blew a rod through the case and Ernie had left for his fishing camp after we filled up. I went to get the truck to pick her up. We had our 2 boys with us, so she sat in front of Ernies' while I went for the truck with my youngest. My older boy went for the ride of his life.
Took longer to drive back then to ride. I don't know what we would have done if the Viper would have blown up. There are some long walks up that way.

Did that run in march 2003 and my 3 chums on 800 Revs all ran out of gas!!! It was a good thing I was there on my RXI TON to save the day!!!Rash said:Between Chibougameau and Lebel sur Quevillon, if anyone been there , western border quebec.. there is a old railroad... it has about 70 miles, maybe 2 or 3 10 degre angles that's it...

Well I guess the longest I've pinned a 2 smoke was my 1000 triple cat. 5 miles at 120 on the dream meter then a long sweeping corner at about 100 back on for about 5 more miles. This was at -35C or about -30F
Damn I miss that big triple!

I held my Phazer wide open for about 5 km and lost the crank bearings. Thank you YES!

Here in northern MN they groom Lake of the Woods. It is 45 miles from one end to the other on the MN side. Early in the season before there gets to be ice heaves and breakers you can hold it WFO the whole way if you want. No big deal. We do all the time. Sometimes tracks come flying out so you don't ever want to be directly behind someone. The large bore two strokers blow up a lot. I have done the whole trip many times on 4 cylinder 4 stroke Yamis. Really guys, it is no big deal. These motors just don't care. As long as there is gas and coolant and you don't hit anything it isn't that hard.

I've made that run, Wide Open on the nytro...but couldn't make it the whole way without stopping to warm my freezing fingers a few times. The next monday I ordered the Yamaheater!
The best part of the 4-stroke, worry free WFO runs...and the magical handwarmer exhaust (don't use it while driving...the gloves melt fast!).

There is or was a race in alaska where they would run 100 miles down a long stretch of road and they average way over 100 mph. More like 115 to 125 mph. Now thats a full pull! I believe srx's and vipers use to rule there.

A buddy and I on an SRX and SX600 passed four skidoos on a railroad bed. Don't know the distance, but the doos dropped off after about 3 miles. We ran it back to find two of them with their hoods up. Simply could of been blown belt or......
