I disagree! If the price is right, buy the 08.
I have an 08 and have done some mods to it. I think it handles awesome. All you need to do is spend a little $ and it will be a solid sled. You would probably spend the $ on the newer sled anyway.
Upgraded ski's, ball joint mod, ski shim...
I agree, The shipping charges from Port are high.
I have ordered quite a few things lately and they give you a 10% discount and then get that discount back in elevated shipping charges.
Probably cheaper to buy local.

A 4 valve head seems logical. Yamaha is getting away from the 5 valve design. I would love to see a 90-100hp Phazer in an updated chassis. With the right track and some tuning, that would be an awesome sled!
Well I rode 130 miles last weekend in WI and it handled really well in most conditions. However in deep powder it did want to push a little. I think I may try the shaper bar in the middle.
But overall this sled is really good !
Phazer ball joint mod is listed here:

I took 3.5mm off for my Phazer and my Nytro. After reading the rider reviews, it can't hurt and sounds like it helps quite a bit. My machinist only charged me $20.00 to do 4 ball joints. Cheap...
I bought a 2007 Phazer GT for my girlfriend.
It has the following:
stock ski's with snowtracker carbides ( great for a beginner)
Large windshield
side deflectors to keep the wind off
I am also doing the 3.5mm upper ball joint mod to help out with stability
4th wheel kit
tank and...
I have searched for the "ski covers" that Yamaha makes for loading your snowmobile on the trailer.
The dual carbide Pilots seem to be grabbing the aluminum ramp on my 2 place enclosed trailer. I have a non slip cover on the ramp, but it is still catching.
What are the boots called? Do you...
I thought about washers as well. I think it will be stronger with the fuel hose as the surface area against the ski bottom will be alot more. There is alot of twisting force there.
I am interested in trying this setup for sure.
The shaper bars are also very interesting as people seem to...
I think I will buy a set of 6" shape bars to swap out after I try the 6" woody's and do a little testing this year on the trails.
Unless someone has already done some testing?
Anyone ever try shimming the outside 4" carbide?
I had a few people tell me to use a piece of 3/8 fuel line cut in half to shim the outside carbide and make it a bit lower.
This should make it a little more aggressive and catch a little bit sooner if the sled pushes.
I think I may keep the...
I installed a set of 5.7 Pilot skis on my 2008 Nytro. I have the 121" track.
I put woody's 6" in the middle and Woody's 4" on the outside.
I Used Sly dog rubbers and everything went together great. I have it set at 3/8" of toe out.
I am now second guessing the 6" woody's in the middle...

Come over to Midwest WI either Trempealeau county, Jackson county, Lacrosse county or anywhere in that vicinity. You can have your long fast trails which are fields or old rail road beds.
I am real interested in this area. Might be nice for a change of pace. I...
I just installed 5.7 Pilot skis on my Nytro as well.
Here is a link discussing Pilot skis.

I bought my skis on e-bay for around $160 and my ski rubbers from slydog for around 17$ I am running 6" woody's in the center and 4" woody's...
I might want to take a week off this season and make a trip to ride some new trails.
I have a Nytro short track and my buddy has a ski doo renegade.
I would like to stay on trail for the most part as my sled isn't a mountain sled.
I have ridden in WI and Western Michigan. Just looking...
